We lacked discipline. That's coaching. That's me. We need to get a lot more disciplined in every phase.

We played pretty well on the defensive line last year and I felt like our linebacker play wasn't what it needed to be. We've made the personnel changes, and it was significant. This is as excited as I've been about a defense here.

We're going to move Adam back to strong safety. When it's all said and done, Adam's probably better down inside than back - particularly in our nickel package. He's such an instinctive and quick read guy in the running game. We miss him being up there.

We've got two right tackles over there, two veterans that are ready to play. They're both playing well.

What we do in the preseason, at least in the first two games, is we look at different packages on offense and defense. Particularly on defense. And we went into this game to try and look at a couple coverages, and some fronts.

When it gets to the free safety, he has to make that play. That's just the way it is.

When we brought Brandon in, we felt like that (high-motor player) was the type of guy we were getting, ... But he's probably a little more athletic than what we anticipated.

Marshall said to me privately, 'It's time, I think.' I said, 'Time for what?' And he said, 'He needs to be the featured guy. And whatever role you want me to do, I'd be happy to do it. It's going to be tough, but I think I can really help him and still have some value for this team.' I couldn't believe it, ... But that's Marshall. So I got to thinking about it more and more, and I said, 'We're going to do this.'

It's a real nice complementary mix that I don't know could survive anywhere else. It's very unique because Marshall is unique. I'm not sure Steven totally appreciates what's gone on in his behalf there, but one day he will. One day he will. Marshall is a pretty special guy.

It's time to kind of settle in on some things, just play together over a long period of time. That cohesiveness is what we're looking for.

He was just starting to realize his full potential. He's obviously a terrific corner. We'll move on. It just provides an opportunity for somebody else to fill in the ranks and be a good player.

He's going to have surgery on the knee so obviously he's done for the year. It'll take about four months to recover and rehab from that thing.

He's got a long ways to go to learn how to play. When he gets to the point where he can play, and he's ready to play, then we'll make a decision on what he does.

He's having the best camp of all the corners, by far. He just has been a standout all through camp. We look at him as a starter when we talk about personnel.

He's just lost. I'm pleased with him. He's just going to be a project for a while.
