When you have No. 4 there, there's always the assumption of greatness, of hope, because of what he's capable of doing. His value to our team, obviously, is immense. |
With Brett, it's just one year at a time. I firmly believe that as long as he can continue to contribute to our team and play the way he has set the standard for his play, then I think he will keep playing. |
With the players, I'm always honest with them. I never tell them something that's not (true). I am optimistic about some of the things I saw. You can't sugarcoat something that shouldn't be sugarcoated. You can't bury something that shouldn't be buried. You have to be totally honest with them and when you tell them, 'This part is OK, this was done well, this wasn't good enough,' you've just got to lay it out for them. |
Without the services of Davenport, we have to be able to count on our other two backs as well. Tony Fisher has been a role player for us in the past and has been an excellent player for us, particularly on third down, and has converted many of those on draws, screens and catches he has made. |
Yeah, I thought Joey Thomas should have sat on the route a little better than he did. He drifted at the top of the route. He should have sat on that a little bit, played for a field goal, that was their best option and we kind of drifted at the top of the route and gave them that one. |
Yes, we need to have a better pass rush. Kabeer and I just talked, actually, about that. And in order for us to be successful in what we're doing, there has to be consistent pressure and it has to come not only from a five- or six-man effort (with blitzers) but a four-man effort, ... And certainly Kabeer is our premier guy. |
You do everything you can to try to win football games, but I just think there comes a point where collectively as an organization you just work toward getting a winning product on the field and being accountable and honest about that product. When something's not right, you try to fix it. |
You don't expect the mistakes to come from the guys that you've always been able to depend on. |
You have no idea how frustrating and disappointing it is. But I'd rather be in close games than get blown out. I don't think anyone can question our effort, toughness, will to win. |
You have to make a decision at some point, |
You have to play the game to win, and no one is going to hand us anything. Teams will see a weakness and say we're a different football team. |
You know me, I never rule him out until the game time. We list him as questionable. He ran a little bit better today. So, we'll see. |
You know, he started the season like gangbusters, had the big interception in the first game against Tampa, he's laying some pretty heavy hits on people, he's really being an aggressive safety and making the plays that he's capable of making and yeah, he looks good, |
You know, in order for him to do his job, everybody around him has to do their job as well. That's the great thing about football. It's not just one guy, |
You'll play hurt in Green Bay, son, and you will ask for butter on your cheeseburgers, and you will like it. |
