As a coach you can't help but start looking ahead to the other games and figuring out scenarios, but you don't want the players looking to far ahead. We need to keep our head above water right now. |
Coming into this game, No. 24, (Kenney) Griffin was averaging like 22 points in his last three games. I think we did a good job shutting him down. |
He gave us some problems early on. But we started dropping our guards back on him as well and negated him. That's really where I thought our guys did a good job tonight. They adjusted when they needed to. Brubaker played hard for us. He was all over the place and getting a lot of loose balls. |
I don't think our kids did a single thing to lose the game. I have no complaints. |
I don't think they were going to allow their team lose. We told our kids they were going to come after you. |
I really felt last year through the middle quarters and virtually the entire fourth quarter we had the pace where we wanted it. It's a lot easier to slow a team down, though, than to speed them up. |
I was able to see a tape of them (York)Suburban) playing and I counted them passing the ball 37 times against East Penn on one possession. At that point, I decided we needed to speed them up in our game if we wanted to win. |
Our kids worked real hard in the second half on defense. I thought where they really hurt us was with screens. They are a very physical team. They play physical. |
They shot the lights out in the first half. We didn't. I think we panicked a little against the zone. |
We know that is part of it, but we had some close games. Camp Hill almost beat us and the other night against Scotland, we had poor shooting. We were lucky to get out of there with a win. |
When we cut the lead down, we usually didn't get a good shot the next time down the floor. But, really, allowing 37 points in the first half and the way we shot (33%), it was too far to come back. |
