He hasn't said anything to me. Until he mentions it, I won't even approach it. It does me no good to talk to him unless he really wants to do it. I don't think he's anxious right now to take a day off. Maybe later in September he will be.

He is a veteran guy in a spot where you need help. So you are naturally going to look at him harder.
He just tried too hard. I think he just overthrew tonight. He couldn't maintain his composure and get in sync, get us through four or five innings at least.
He knows he's not going to be in every day. I'm sure he's OK with that. He just doesn't want to quit.
He knows that he's not going to be playing a lot if he does come back.
He likes hitting fourth. He doesn't just like it, he says, 'I love it.' That's a good sign.
He located his fastball on the inner half and surprised some hitters. That's what good pitchers do. Even if you just have a fastball, if you can locate it, it's tough to hit on the inner half.
He looked to me like he regained his old form. His velocity was up, his command was really good. He's pretty smart and pretty good.
He looks a little better right-handed, which I think is a natural thing for him right now. Left-handed, he looks a little tentative. We're still going to go slow with him and make sure he's going to be OK. That's our major concern. We want Brian ready for the long haul. We don't want any setbacks if we can avoid them.
He made progress. I was happy. He shouldn't hang his head how it ended up.
He mixed his pitches really well and used his fastball tremendously well. He's smart, he knows what to do and doesn't give in. I think that's going to be a big help to him all year long.
He played extremely well. He forced our hand. I was impressed with everything he did out there. He's a quick learner, handles the bat and has a great knowledge of the strike zone. He's going to be a great asset to our ball club.
He said no, he'd rather go around individually. Emotionally, he's been through a lot. He thought it would be better if he did that. He said he would tell everyone he was sorry about the distraction.
He said, 'I'm going to get some help and get my life straightened out.' I told him it wasn't going to be easy, and good luck.
He seemed to get better with each inning.
