He's not the only one (struggling). We've got a bunch of guys out there that are swinging at some bad pitches. |
He's obviously locked in. I don't know where we'd be without him. |
He's obviously not healthy yet. His knee is bothering him, his foot is bothering him. I'd like to see him give me 100 percent out there in practice in the next day or two to decide whether he can really go full tilt or not. Until I find out how healthy he is I'm just going to give him some time. He can't help us halfway. |
He's pretty much done what we'd like to see him do, but it's early. He's got a ways to go. When we get a little deeper into the spring, we'll get some of the better pitching on a consistent basis. It's going to be interesting, but I have total confidence he's going to hold his own. |
He's pretty smart pitcher. He studies prior to the game and has a plan when he goes out. He's been able to keep the ball down and he's come up with a change-up that helps him against left-handed hitting. |
He's really been impressive so far. He generates power, and what I call 'easy power.' He hits the ball the other way, and I've seen him turn on balls that I didn't think he could get to, and he's hit them fair and hit them out. |
He's still got the potential to be a pretty decent pitcher. As long as Sidney gets his head together and is healthy, he should be OK. But he just didn't do it here. He had some other issues that kept him from doing that. |
He's still in a lot of pain with his foot. He felt like he was going to need some time (off) with it. |
He's such a valuable kid I'd rather put somebody there I know is ready. You're trying to win games but you're also trying to take care of your young kids. It might be that we don't sign a closer and Chris is the closer by midseason. But it's an awful lot to expect of a youngster. |
He's swinging the bat, hustling. He gives us a little energy, sparks us a little bit. He's done enough, for me, to be playing. |
He's the only one who volunteered. I'm not looking for quality, I'm looking for quantity at that point. |
He's very important to us. We're expecting big things from him. |
His knee and ankle are still bothering him. We may get back to the doctors again Monday and see if we can't get an MRI. I keep telling him we need him to play the field a little bit. And he keeps insisting he wants to play. He's not ready to catch anything yet. |
His location has got to get better, that's all. He's got to get his pitch count down. |
His pitch selection I thought got a little off. |
