Everybody wants to score goals and everybody should score a few goals a year so I'm definitely not happy with it, and, yeah, it's been a little frustrating. I'm definitely not here to score goals, but everybody's got to contribute something . |
I can't believe I've bounced back so quickly. . . . But we want to take it easy. We don't want to go crazy. |
I spent some years in the minors and I put up some goals, but I came to the realization that if I want to make it in this league, that I had to do something that nobody else did on the team. And that was just kind of run around and be full of energy. When I did get my chance, I wanted to leave it all on the ice. Fortunately, they liked what I did so I just kept doing it. That's how I had to play to stay in the league. |
I was just going through the motions but I didn't feel anything (wrong), so I just kept on going. |
Mark Messier and Gretzky were everybody's favorite, but I always loved watching Tikkanen. He was always a piece of work out there. He was always yapping and trying to get under the other team's skin, and he was a really good player. That always got overlooked because of his antics. He always played against the other team's top players. I'd love to be that kind of player. I don't think I'll get to that caliber, but he always was one of my favorites. |
Now it's almost like I'm snake-bitten, if there is such a thing for a non-goal scorer. |
When you don't play, you don't feel like you are part of the team. It was nice to be out there with the boys working hard and laughing and joking. |
Yeah, I feel sore, but it's a good sore. |
You look on just about every team nowadays, they seem to have one guy like that. It can really help if a team comes out flat or there's a line that's not playing well. |
