I thought it would be a lot more frustrating coming in, probably because at the end of last year, I really started to understand the offense more, ... When coach O'Brien came in, and I talked to him for the first time, I knew that it was to be OK. He's the best teacher I have ever been around. |
I thought that (Newman) worked hard (on Thursday night) and that is the way that she needs to work and the way the teams needs to work on a day to day basis. What we've got going with (Vincent) is that if you are going to key on her we will burn you inside and you have to play her straight up. |
I thought that we wanted to change up. We lost so many close games, and when you lose close games, you're usually a player or two away or chemistry away or a little bit of both. I didn't know if it was all jelling chemistry-wise. I thought we'd shake it up a little bit and add some new pieces. |
I thought, you know, I have a shot at being happy here because this is such an exciting and lucky time for me. Instead of fighting demons, sometimes it's tempting to just say, well they don't exist. That's it. They're done. I'm defeating them by decree ... I can decide to be happy and be fine. |
I told both of them just to do the best they could and go out there and have fun. Berry was especially put in a bad situation, but we can't be any prouder of the effort we got tonight. The offensive line played better, our backs blocked better. The defense stepped it up. Everybody contributed. |
I told them in the locker room that I was very proud of them. I told them to be disappointed in the loss, because you gave it everything you had and I understand the tears, but at the same time, you have put Harlan girls basketball back on the map in a position that it has not been for awhile. |
I took Thomas' passing pretty hard, ... The things that are helping us are to talk about Thomas, and to re-live his life. On the plane on the way home, we gathered a big group of us, and we just sat and rehashed everything we could remember about Thomas. There was just so much joy in his life. |
I understand we lost some great talent, including the player who would have been the best senior in the nation, ... Losing a player of that magnitude will take a toll on any program. But we recruited well, have some solid shooting and feel that several players are ready to take that next step. |
I want it to take me around the world. So far, I have lots of festivals lined up, in England, Italy, Norway, other places. And I'll hopefully be back in the States in May or June. I already have five new songs for the next album and plan on releasing it the end of this year or early last year. |
I was constantly hearing this game was the big match-up between the two former NFL coaches Weis versus Wannstedt who both returned to lead their old schools. I felt that took away from the real meaning of the game, which took place between the players on the field, not between Dave and myself. |
I was convinced that we would come out here and it would be a real celebration, that it would be a culmination of our season. But I'm looking forward to being out here and really enjoying this time, soaking this all in just as I did the Super Bowl last week, and just get ready to move forward. |
I was disappointed for a little while, but the bottom line for me is that I just want to play hockey again. Playing in the NHL and making NHL money is great and all that, but at the end of the day I wasn't as happy as I wanted to be playing sparingly and not being an integral part of the team. |
I was embarrassed. You don't want to be standing out there on the ice as a player knowing that fans are just totally disgusted and you're not even giving them their money's worth. I think we're embarrassed for ourselves, but we were embarrassed for them, too, to have to sit there and watch it. |
I was grateful when I came to the Saints because I'm from New Orleans. I've given everything a lot of thought. I sat down with a couple of guys. You can't do much right now until the water comes out. But, when we can, we're talking about doing something in the parks to give the kids something. |
I was in New Orleans just this past week. It is a terrible, terrible feeling to see all the homes that, to me, look destroyed. It's not just the arena. If the arena is in playing condition, will there be fans there? I don't know how many people will come back and how quickly they'll come back. |
