I thought [the defeat by the Devils] was the first time we didn't grit it out like we had. If it was another team, maybe we could have won. But it was New Jersey, and they negated a lot of our scoring opportunities. We didn't have the second or third effort offensively that we've had in the past.

I thought it was going to be a long night. Stevens got off to a hot start, and we found ourselves down by a large deficit early. Our guys deserve a lot of credit for the perseverance and the character they showed by prevailing the way they did. It would have been a lot easier for us to just fold.

I thought it was useless to try to differentiate myself from 9/11. I wanted to stand for 9/11 from the beginning. I thought I could do so and fight on against the death penalty. On purely rational grounds, it's a bit odd. ... By testifying truthfully, I will save my life. It's an act of religion.

I thought that over time, through the efforts of Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley and others on the House side, we would have been able to strike a note of interest from the Department of Defense. The faulty logic that I had was that I felt we could garner that interest. We were not able to do that.

I thought the first half was the worst we've played all year, ... In the second half, we made some adjustments and our special players made some special plays. We really wore them down in the second half by pressuring more. This team can play with anybody. We just have to bring it all 90 minutes.

I thought the penalty changed the whole momentum of the game and that was very unfortunate. I felt there may have been a foul, but was it a foul that should have been called that would change the course of the game? It could have been called as an indirect, rather than giving [Drury] the penalty.

I thought we didn't come out with a lot of energy early in the game and I thought we were just standing around waiting for each other to get rebounds. I was a little disappointed with our effort early, especially on the boards. But we finally got five guys in there that got after it a little bit.

I thought we dominated pretty much the whole game except for two plays in the second quarter. I really didn't say much (in the locker room), just to take it one play at a time. It felt like we were winning the ballgame. We played well in the first half, and being down was kind of hard to swallow.

I told the guys if you look at our losses its either the turnover battle or the rebounding battle that we haven't won. Those are the two major battles you've got to win in a ball game if you're going to have a chance to win. It (Rebounding advantage) was a big margin and that wins you ball games.

I trust that a graduate student some day will write a doctoral essay on the influence of the Munich analogy on the subsequent history of the twentieth century. Perhaps in the end he will conclude that the multitude of errors committed in the name of "Munich" may exceed the original error of 1938.

I understand there's been some interest in talking to me over the last couple of days, as evidenced by the cameras outside my house and the fact that I left in a gorilla suit the other day, ... That thing's getting itchy, so I thought I would just come here and try to answer your questions today.

I was afraid of last place, ... There were a lot of fears. Below .500 -- I never thought I'd see that here. Then, losing 100 games seemed like a possibility, then 90 games. All of those things could have been a reality here. The grave seemed like a reality here, but the guys didn't let it happen.

I was an only child. I lost both my parents. By the time I was twenty I was bald. I'm homosexual. In the way of circumstances and background to transcend I had everything an artist could possibly want. It was practically a blueprint. I was programmed to be a novelist or a playwright. But I'm not.

I was excited by how heavily involved Jim Mangold had been with John in writing the script and how Jim was determined to get it right. That really meant a lot. It took some of the pressure off, because John was someone whose integrity you could always sense. People appreciated John's genuineness.

I was freaked out about it, ... I felt guilty; I felt really moved that people cared about me that much, but I'm still kind of paralyzed because I can't do it the way I want to do it, and I opted not to talk to anybody because I thought it might [mess] up my chances of getting things to go right.
