I had more of an opportunity to use it (yesterday) than in the previous game because I'd given up a hit early in both my innings and had to work from the stretch. I was just working on going over the head with the glove and staying a little more quiet ? with more of a direction towards home plate. |
I had promised on taking office that I would see my members - the rank and file mostly. I make sure that I am here (in his office at police headquarters), sometimes as early as 6:30 am. It's a free period, free in the sense that you can walk in; and I see people coming from as far as Westmoreland. |
I had trouble getting my emotions together all through the day. He's been like a father figure to me. He convinced me to come here. He showed me how to handle the college life, and we still keep in touch today. It was different seeing him on the opposite end, but it was good seeing his face again. |
I hate that we ended up with 71 boats, but we did the right thing. I can understand why a lot of guys didn't want to go. We've got a lot of custom-built boats that cost several million dollars (and fishermen) who just didn't want to risk it in 11- to 14-foot seas forecast for later in the weekend. |
I have a reputation of having a really bad race before a good one. I had some hard workouts before states and I was feeling the effects from it. I treat every race the same. If I blew up in a dual meet, same as at states, it's not a big deal. I would rather win a national title than a state title. |
I have been one of the Republicans who has been somewhat skeptical about needing witnesses but I must say after listening to the presentations yesterday and today, unless the president's lawyers want to stipulate most of the facts, it appears as if the argument for live witnesses is strengthening. |

I have never been so scantily clad in my life! But I've never really had much of a problem with it ever since I was a kid... And then also being, you know, a dancer and a model. Growing up in Hawaii, running around in, you know, shorts and swimsuits and stuff, I never really had a problem with it. |
I have no control over what people do. It's unfortunate for them, but we have a drug policy and you have to adhere to that. If guys want to take on that, it's on them. I'm concerned about what happens on the big-league level. We have a policy in place and everyone understands that. That's the law. |
I have no patience with the doctrine of pure science, that science is science only when it is uncontaminated by application in the arts of life; and I also have no patience with the spirit that considers a piece of work to be legitimate only as it has direct bearing on the arts and affairs of men. |
I have to continue to go out and give 110 percent effort on punt returns every time I go out on the field. I can't get lackadaisical and say, Well there might be a flag' and slack off a little bit. That will hurt my game. Every time I go out there I'm going to try to return that ball to the house. |

I hope this lifts people's spirits back home. It's been a tough, tough period and it's going to get tougher. It was so bad, we couldn't even buy tennis shoes because our budgets had been frozen. But those things happen for a reason. Like my daddy said, if it doesn't kill you, it makes you tougher. |
I hope, that in the end, we acknowledge that we should be advisers, mentors, teachers (and) coaches. And when it comes to family and individual decisions, not be the all-knowing father figure of the past. We must care about them; care about them passionately. We must care about them, not for them. |
