I was trying to get on base any way I could. The ball was coming up at my head, but it hit me on the shoulder. I live for (small ball). Anything I can do to move the runner, I'll do it. I don't care about any statistics as long as we win. This wasn't our best game, but good teams win when they can. |
I wasn't on the field, but if I was, I probably would have been suckered like everybody else, so don't let me lie to you. I've never gotten over it. It felt like Alice in Wonderland ; you just did not believe this was happening. As I'm watching, I wanted to push pause so the whole world would stop. |
I wish we could have played all four quarters like that. We've been relying on our defense to get us going by creating turnovers. We didn't do a good job of that to start with, but in the last part of the third quarter and the fourth we really clamped down and were able to take control of the game. |
I won't comment on the dollar amount except to say that it's [$72m] not correct, though not off by an order of magnitude. I also won't comment on sources of that money, except to say that some of the assertions that I've seen in the comments are pretty far off, both in terms of numbers and sources. |
I would call upon my colleagues at the proper time to support this aviation legislation, not to say that it is perfect, not to say that some of this legislation that has risen out of this crisis is perfect, and we will have a chance to revisit and this is only the first of a wave of accountability, |

I would say we're ahead of where we initially thought we'd be right now, because of how many guys have stepped up and been pleasant surprises. I've really been pleased with the progress. When you feel like you're getting better, you're always going to have a positive attitude on your football team. |
I would think that every defense starts with stopping the run, and it's a lot better for us because we've got in my opinion the best offensive line in football and the best back right now in football. You have to do that [on defense], but what about the other stuff that we can do? Pick your poison. |
I'd like to take it another step. I don't know about the other guys - I assume they feel the same way - but I personally won't be satisfied unless we win it all. That's not an unrealistic goal, either. We have the ability to win the league, so anything short of that is going to be a disappointment. |
I'd like to think we have a chance, and I stress a chance, to be pretty good. We've got some good pitching. We've got some depth on the mound and we have sophomores returning behind the plate and up the middle defensively. They're good players. We'd like to think we have a chance to be pretty good. |
I'm assuming we are going to see some positive effects from [the stimulus package] in the second half of the year, but the first half is quite vulnerable. If the first quarter is looking peaked, and the unemployment rate is moving up, the odds would mount for some kind of a second-quarter rate cut. |
I'm confident Jim Tracy is going to do a fine job based on having worked with him in the past and seeing his work on a daily basis. I think I probably feel even better working with him now that he's had five years of major league experience as a manager and after seeing him here at spring training. |
I'm dying to get back on the court, excited. I think what the guys went through, as far as playing without me, was a tough task. They learned that we definitely have to play more together and play with way more effort. We didn't play like we were playing when we were winning ... I think I can help. |
I'm going to give it to my mother [Diane Wynn] right now. I wanted in the worst way to win, but I'll never forget playing in this game. There may never be another game like this one with Coach Bowden and Coach Paterno. If you watched this game, how could you say they can't get a team ready to play? |
