I'm a huge proponent of exchanges, student exchanges, cultural exchanges, university exchanges. We talk a lot about public diplomacy, ... It's extremely important that we get our message out, but it's also the case that we should not have a monologue with other people. It has to be a conversation, and you can't do that without exchanges and openness. |
I'm introduced today as Iowa State's wrestling coach because of the selfless sacrifices of my college coach, Bobby Douglas. I promise to work as hard as I did as a competitor to build upon the traditions I've inherited as head coach. Iowa State University is a special place to our family. I'm humbled and excited at the same time about my opportunity. |
I'm one of those guys who put a lot of thought into the process they say they use, which is obviously a bunch of rhetoric. If you put the numbers out there, it just does not make sense. Every year there are two or three teams that feel as if they've done enough to justify their way in. It happens every year. Unfortunately for us, it happens to be us. |
I'm probably one of Coach Boeheim's biggest supporters, ... I'll always be grateful to him for showing faith in me from the start. When I was a freshman, he let me make some mistakes that freshmen make. He wasn't constantly looking over your shoulder. As long as you were doing things beneficial to the team, he was cool with that. He didn't overcoach. |

I've always felt badly that Jimmy wasn't treated with the kind of respect that I thought he deserved, ... Having known him and known how committed and determined he was as an artist and how tortured he was as a human being, and knowing the agonies of his childhood, I felt that this was a good chance to make an honorable psychological portrait of him. |
I've been enormously lucky [in my career] ... and certainly the capper on the string of luck was meeting Gene Roddenberry and to be cast in the role of Sulu, which was a breakthrough role for an Asian American actor....I think Sulu played a very important role in balancing the perception of Asians by the North American public. |
I've gained a lot of respect for him this week, and not only as a player. Let me tell you a story: I played the front nine today in four over, and on the 10th tee he came up to me kind of shyly and asked, 'Do you mind if I say something?' I said go right ahead. He said, 'C'mon, let's go have some fun on the back side.' I thought that was pretty cool. |
I've just been working on a scene which we shot in our first week, and Dan still looks the little kid that he was in Sorcerer's Stone. Now, 11 months later, he doesn't look like that at all. And that scene of him comes two-thirds of the way through the movie. So he starts as a kid of 15, then he gets younger, then he gets older, then he gets younger. |
I've learned that it's something that's never going to escape me, ... I've accepted it. That's no disrespect to my father, because I'm very proud to say that I'm Earl Campbell's son and nothing makes me happier. (But) I wanted to get out of my father's shadow and just be Tyler Campbell without people saying right away, 'You're Earl Campbell's son.' |
If an event were to occur that would cause consumers to raise the savings rate and cut back on spending, even for a short period of time, it's conceivable that we'd get two or three months in which the economy would contract, ... 1.1 percent GDP growth is little more than a rounding error -- it doesn't take much to throw that into negative territory. |
If it's based on wanting the guys on top to play together, it's a bunch of hogwash. There's no problem with our tour as far as what's going on. To me, it sounds like the upper-echelon always wants it to be whatever they want. They seem to think that just because they're the best players that everybody should listen to them and only do what they want. |
If new people do come in you never know what might happen. They might want their own manager. But it's no good worrying about that. It's out of my control. You just hope that whoever comes in understands football. One thing's for certain: if we are going to go where the club want to go, this place is going to need a large amount of money spent on it. |
If properly implemented, and with sufficiently broad participation by patent-holders, this approach may streamline the implementation of Linux in a broad range of applications. The result should be a dramatic increase in development and acceptance of Linux-based applications which could eventually pose a greater threat to industry behemoth Microsoft. |
If that took place, we understand the penalties. We understand somebody being taken out of the game. Sean is so valuable to us. I had a long talk with him afterward, and he understands that. He's all football. He wants to play. He's one of our leaders. He's had an outstanding year. He's very valuable to us. We can't afford to lose somebody like that. |
