[Southwest turns its planes around twice as fast as competitors, getting more flights out of expensive aircraft and pilots. Wal-Mart invented loading-dock processes to quash expensive inventory. Dell runs] their entire company with three days of inventory, you pay up front, and they stiff their suppliers, ... Operations is where these industries are won and lost. |
[That assumes, of course, that voters are paying close attention. Few are--at least at this point.] They're more interested in spending time with their families and planning for graduation or summer vacations, as well they should, ... the details laid out now will provide the foundation for the debate that takes place in the fall, when people do start to tune in. |
[The Hancock County Emergency Operations Center says there's no problem. Its official shelter list directs people to Second Street Elementary School, the Senior Center and the Red Cross facility in Kiln. Explaining the Bay High closure,] We're consolidating facilities because there are too few people to make them viable, ... There are other places for them to go. |
[Titanic also was able to stay on top for so long because of repeat viewers.] What makes a movie work, ... is it resonates with where the world is at the time, and every once in a while everything just hits the right note. And Titanic was such a movie. People felt good when they saw it, told everyone else to see it, and then if they really liked it, saw it again. |
[Twice -- twice! -- allowing assistants to buy groceries for players who didn't have enough money to eat: $20-$30 for a player whose meal plan hadn't begun yet and $20 for a prospect who hadn't yet received his scholarship.] I just felt sorry for those guys, ... Maybe because I was that kid once, you know? No money, no friends, and you haven't eaten for two days. |
A fairly balanced credit trend for the year is anticipated, as a focus on cost reductions over the preceding three years is helping to offset continuing pricing pressures across almost all sectors. Similarly, increasing M&A activity, dividends, and share repurchases offset improving financial profiles, further supporting expectations for a balanced ratings trend. |
A few years ago we had 4,000 people at the ground, now we're averaging more than 7,000 supporters week-in, week-out. It's a bit annoying because you can't turn up on the day and get a good seat so easily, but it's definitely a case of the more the merrier. And I don't blame them for not coughing up £15 to see a hapless 0-0 draw with Halifax during the bad years. |

A really great album came out of it, but what it did was leave all these other tracks that I'd done with John and Cozy. I always knew that Cozy was a great drummer, but I never realized what good a bass player John was, until he came down to the studio and started to play. I always felt that these tracks were valuable tracks, and deserved to see the light of day. |
Advances at the upper reaches of high performance computing such as these often find powerful applications in the broad spectrum of government, industrial and commercial arenas. IBM 's close working relationship with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has resulted in another significant achievement with the potential to improve the lives of people everywhere. |
All of our raw material suppliers must be approved by McDonald's and have to meet certain standards outlined by them. We conduct regular supplier audits on animal welfare and cleanliness; slaughterhouses must meet high standards as well. When and if we do find a problem, it is never a 'gotcha' scenario. We work together with our suppliers to resolve any problems. |
All of the Sunnis are facilitating the terrorists. They have little influence compared with the Kurds and Shiites, so they allow the terrorists to operate to create pressure and get political concessions. So they should be killed, too ... the Sunni political leaders in Baghdad are supporting the insurgency, too, and there will be a day when they are tried for it. |
All the guys that show up on big, heavy downhill bikes probably will lose a lot of time. Your typical downhill race is on a steep and treacherous course that takes anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes. Super Downhill is a lot more fitness-based. These races are 10 to 25 minutes long. Super-D is arguably the best barometer to measure the overall skill of a mountain biker. |
All the reports I've read suggest that if you're not marketing to those 50 and over, you're missing out. The material shows that they have the biggest pool of discretionary money, and a lot of it goes to leisure activity from those who are retiring younger. But there are many more who will continue to work because they don't want to retire, or because they can't. |
