I think this is the type of off-season that they were looking to have. I think that they hit it right on the nose as far as what they were looking to do. You got your own expectations for yourself as well and when you make those kind of moves and when the organization makes that commitment to try and make your team a lot better, you've got to kind of take that pressure and run with it. |
I think we'll have a good sale. We have the best group of horses we've ever had for a March sale, especially at the top end. The top, though, usually takes care of itself, so this, as usual, will be a good test of the middle market. But we've had a lot of activity [on the sales grounds] and according to all the indicators, credit requests, hotel requests, we've got all the right signs. |
I think what we saw in John Kerry last night was a strength of conviction, a vision that we want to see in the president of the United States, ... I think he looked and sounded like a commander-in-chief. to be honest with you, I think the American people saw the John Kerry that I know. This man is ready to keep this country safe. He is ready to finish the job and be successful in Iraq. |
I thought coming into the game that we would have trouble guarding them off the dribble because they were just too fast for us. And we did, so we tried to play some zone and they shot the ball well from the perimeter, so we got caught between a rock and a hard place. Once we lose the lead and have to play fast it is very difficult for us to win. We don?t score the ball at a high level. |
I told him just mainly to understand the situation he's in. People aren't stupid. All they have to do is look at the stats sheet. As a pitching coach, I'd circle that guy's name and I'm saying, ?Look, that guy's not going to beat us. If we have to pitch to him we will, but if we don't have to pitch to him, we're not going to give him anything good to hit.' So I told him, ?Stay patient. |
I try to keep in perspective the fact that we had 11 wins, we won the NFC East title and we earned the right to be in the playoffs. We played hard all year long. We were 8-1 at home. I think it is more important for me to maintain that position. (Sunday) was a devastating loss, and the only positive can be that we use it as a motivator to count the days until we are on the field again. |
I was very pleased beating BC, but that seems like it was a couple months ago now. You want to continue to improve. Once you get to a certain point in your schedule, you get to where you're just preparing for that next game, basically. That's not the time of year you can get better. This is a time where we've had practices, [and] even though it's during exams, you expect to get better. |
I went to a friend's house and we just started using. I took myself out of the picture for a second, and I looked around at every single person in the room - at who they were, how old they were and what they had going on in their lives. A lot of them were near to 30, unemployed, living off their parents... they were heroin addicts. They were just guys on The World's Biggest Couch Tour. |
I won't get into specifics because that's all in the past, but there were some instances where, intentionally or unintentionally, some things that were best left confidential or best left in the clubhouse became aired publicly one way or the other. That's not good for the organization or building trust for the players. But now I think we all have one mind how to keep those confidences. |
I'd be painting sometimes, and get the strangest feeling I was being watched. I'd look up and see faces pressed against the window or door screens. Then, when I noticed them, the people would want to come in and talk to me. Got very upset, too, when I was too busy. One time I remember a man drove his car clear across our lawn and parked it right in the middle of the grass. It was wild. |
I'd come home with bruised ribs every night. I mean, Freddie was tough, but he taught me the difference between high school and college basketball in the first two weeks. Even as a player, Freddie would be teaching the guards where to be on the floor and certain techniques he used to take advantage of his skills. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he was destined for this. |
I'd usually add stuff in. That's why I tell you I like to get in the fantasy art. Say a small girl, a ring of flowers around her or a bunch of vines. I did one where I turned a man's family — I put his daughter in the middle and her two children like a boy with a bow, like cupid, and a daughter throwing flowers out of a basket. He wanted wings. So I just went with my own imagination. |
I'll never forget the night we sat here until about 3 o'clock in the morning crying and talking about my career, ... I was ready to be done. And she didn't think I was, that I would regret it if I didn't take that one more step and try to come back again. And the next thing you know, I got my second surgery and here we are today. And I know that if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here. |
I'm excited to be a part of the Maelstrom project. We have a dynamic and compelling plotline, epic scope and strong characters. As the game unfolds, the conflicts between the factions and the characters within them become the flashpoints for player missions. What begins as a battle to live another day soon becomes a global fight for survival, with the player at the heart of the action. |
I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing. |
