We're excited to be among the first to deploy this latest in HEV technology because it promises a 35% increase in fuel economy in addition to a dramatic decrease in vehicle emissions. UPS has been involved in HEV research for more than eight years, but that's just one part of a multifaceted strategy to reduce fuel dependency, cut greenhouse emissions and in the long run, reduce operating costs. |
We're starting to get some really good swings up there, but we're also showing a lot of patience at the plate. Now that we're getting some real work in, things are starting to look up. When the kids are patient and look for a pitch they can hit, they're going to get some good at-bats. I don't think scoring should be a problem for us this year if we continue to show good discipline at the plate. |
We've been working on some of the things mechanically and, obviously, I'll pay attention to what the doctors say and try to build arm strength the best we can without getting him hurt. It's kind of a freak injury for a pitcher. You never know where it comes from. We've been trying to stress mechanics even back to when he started his throwing program before this came up. We'll keep stressing it. |
We've made time savings of about 30% across the board, which has freed up some of my and my partners' time to go and look for other business and concentrate on forthcoming tenders and contracts. Many local authorities are looking at best value propositions, and with this type of technology improving each week we can move forward and, hopefully, offer more for a lower price than our competitors. |
Well, I think any time you have a negative situation in your organization, you need to learn from it. And I think we as an organization need to learn from that. So you're always looking for character football players. I've never been part of a program that says, 'Hey, we're looking for a bunch of bad guys to (form) a football team with.' So that's something that's definitely a priority of ours. |
What Cuba has shown to the world is not only that we could play up to par with other major leaguers. We are not professional, we are amateur. We don't get paid for doing this. We deserve a high place in baseball because we do this with sacrifice, with human value and courage and sportsmanship, and because we give our utmost in order to come to the field and show what good baseball is all about. |
What I really want to say to everybody, the media, the police, the police in the states, everybody involved, 'thank you' sounds so understated, but that's the only word I can think of at the moment. I think without the concerted effort of everybody involved that I may have been having another sleepless night. I am so thankful to everyone involved that he was found before the 48 hours were gone. |
What turned us around was they stopped shooting the ball so well. There wasn't a whole lot we could do. We went to man, we went to zone but they just shot the ball so well. I just feel our team is in excellent shape. I kept telling the guys we think we're in better shape than any team we play, and we're hoping they wear down in the fourth quarter. It went into overtime and that's what happened. |
When Brandon called me on the phone and said he was going to put his name in the draft -- and he couldn't come back, since he had tested the waters a year ago -- the first call I made was to Glen Davis, ... And I told Glen, 'Brandon's putting his name in the draft' -- and Glen had kind of suspected that already -- 'and now it's on you.' I said, 'You wanted to be the man -- now you are the man.' |
When I first came here, the wheelchair racing program was really in its fledgling stages, but by the time I left, we were a strong team with athletes from around the country and had begun to receive more support from the university. I continue to hear of both the success and struggles of the team and it makes me miss having such a strong community of athletes with disabilities all in one place. |
When I go into that locker room at the All-Star break, I can't talk to them and say, 'We're going to do this,' because I don't know where we're at. I don't know where we're at right now, and that's hard to swallow. It's one of the most mind-boggling situations I've ever seen, to the point it becomes hard to deal with. The bottom line is we've got to play, because the games aren't going to stop. |
When I sat in my office and looked at the line board, ... I kept seeing that gaping hole on the right. Modin, Richards and a blank space. There is not another player in our system, not another player who is out there as a free agent or you could trade for, who would fill that gaping hole. When I say Marty is the heart and soul of this team, that's not hyperbole or blowing smoke up his backside. |
When I was playing, it was 10 or 12 plays that determined the outcome of a game. Now, because of the balance of talent in the league, it's come down to three or four plays a game. All you're looking for is to be in a position where you have a chance to win at the end. We haven't been able to do that, in a number of cases but we just keep chipping at it, trying to find a way to turn that corner. |
When it comes to this music, it just seems to be a foregone conclusion that there is going to be some kind of excuse for things not being able to be implemented that are deemed necessary for the successful realization of the music. I know that this is sounding clumsy and that it could easily be misinterpreted, but one doesn't have to be a brain trust to make the observation that I've just made. |
When Tell All Your Friends came out, a lot of the guys in the band were 18 or 19 or 20, really young. And as the last five years have gone by, we know that the people who have been interested in our music have grown as well. So we're kind of trying just to keep doing what we do and keep it as true and honest as we can and hoping that the people who are into that are going to grow along with us. |
