(Emily) gets her boots custom-made. Then once she gets them, we mount them, fit them to the blades, make sure they don't just fit like a shoe, they fit like a glove. Remember, this is a sport where balance is everything. And that's the great thing about this girl: Through this whole thing, she kept her balance. They tried to break her heart by sending the other woman (Kwan), and what did Emily do? She went back to work. She kept skating. |
(Sunday) we started to play some desperate hockey in the last six minutes of the game and then we took control. We just didn't have that extra step we needed in the first two periods. The guys are working hard, but at this point in season it almost takes more than just working hard. Teams talk about getting that extra bounce. We have to put forth the needed effort to get that bounce. Once we're willing to do that, things will go our way. |
[A Mormon who offered some criticism of the church for placing too much emphasis on baptism statistics and not enough on retaining members, Dr. David Stewart Jr., said the church's hierarchy has begun responding to those concerns.] We've had challenges in many areas of the world that many of the new converts have not remained active long-term in the church, ... Things now, this year, last year, are significantly better than they've been. |
[Depending on how their homes appear in the photos on computer screens, evacuees have expressed either joy or sorrow at the business center of Panama City, Fla.'s Marriott Bay Point Resort Village, which is home to many hurricane evacuees and also serves as a base for the NOAA team taking aerial photos of the devastation.] There were just numerous people that were so happy, ... And there was actually people crying. It was very emotional. |
[The company she now keeps on screen is dazzling but Davis hasn't had to abandon everything about her life in Britain. This week, before she starts work on her first Hollywood film, she is making a visit to the US set of The Office.] I can't wait but it'll be a bit strange, ... The first episode was so close to the British version that I found it difficult to watch. But now it's doing its own thing, it's a very different show. I love it. |
[The dichotomy in the courts' treatment of abortion and embryos could change the approach of fathers' rights advocates. For years, they have argued that there is a basic unfairness in the lack of a father's input in an abortion decision.] A mother can terminate a pregnancy and the father has no say, ... On the other hand, a mother's able to make a unilateral decision to keep the child and saddle the father with 18 years of child support. |
[The FCC's defenders say the agency is just one actor on a multiplayer stage dominated by Congress, the White House and industry.] The FCC is in a very difficult position, ... They are trying to deregulate a regulated industry in a way that creates new competition and doesn't lead to new regulation of the new industry. Frankly, the FCC is trying to untie this Gordian knot one strand at a time. |
[The use of ClearForest as a key component of RDC's GRID system highlights the need for multiple information management and analytics applications to work together as integrated solutions.] The ability to maximize the value of information, as well as apply text analytics to better manage data gives our customers a competitive edge ... ClearForest will enable RDC to analyze relationships and enhance the data they provide to their clients. |
[There's just enough self-deprecation, just enough thinking-man's mentality, that you always come away from an Olin Browne conversation feeling like he's interested, that he cares.] Golf humbles you, ... My parents tried to teach me what was right and what was wrong. When you go through life you learn some of that and loathe some of that. I try to reach my kids that they're going to make mistakes, just don't make the same mistakes twice. |
[United might have a game in hand but they already trail Chelsea by five points. They cannot afford to lose any more ground even at this early stage of the season - and playing Liverpool away will reveal much about the seriousness of their challenge.] We need everyone to perform every match to keep up with Chelsea, ... We've run out of excuses. It's time to perform again and win match after match like we used to do - season after season. |
2005 was a significant year for the company. We exited the year with the highest gross margin and the first year of profitability since 2000. We also shipped record units during the fourth quarter at an annualized run rate of approximately 30 billion units. We look to continue to fuel our growth with new product designs and wins in the computing, consumer and wireless end-markets and are excited about our prospects for the upcoming year. |
A lot of the teams have gotten stronger. Our diving has been a little down and that has hurt us in a few meets, but we're working to improve that. At least four teams (that are on Vineland's schedule) have really improved. Washington Township has 14 new kids, Cherry Hill West and Cherry Hill East are strong, and Eastern is always a competitive team. They all have good coaches who know how to plan lineups, so it's going to be a challenge. |
Actively addressing the pre-kindergarten piece of our educational puzzle is critical to our overall success. Studies have proven that for every pre-kindergarten dollar that is spent on our children, we save up to $17 over time in areas such as special education, health care and welfare payments. I can't begin to thank everyone for their generosity at Mountains of Hope. The have started the wheels turning, both literally and figuratively. |
