 I knew I became more involved in operational matters than I would normally expect to be or want to be, given the fact that I had a battlefield commander on the ground, ... I am not a hurricane expert. I've got to rely on people to execute the details of the plan.

 We have to continue to execute offensively, to do whatever it takes to keep the ball. We plan to take what they give us, whether its on the ground or in the air. That's a great philosophy, but you still have to go out and execute.

 We have some reluctance because we believe the details are terribly important. We believe quite clearly this plan is not the final solution, because it still does rely very heavily on people driving their cars, and there are still going to be too many industrial facilities in the park.

 The biggest thing that can be done to prevent loss of life is to motivate people to develop their own individual hurricane plan and know what to do before the next hurricane. Some of these folks, take Mississippi in Katrina, they died because they didn't have a hurricane plan.

 Officials should have realized that the poor were not going to be able to evacuate the way everybody evacuated and some special provisions should have involved community leaders, ... People in those poor, black communities in New Orleans don't trust the government very much. If pastors, doctors and other trusted leaders had been involved, they would have pressured for a plan for people who rely on public transportation.

 My judgment was that we had a battlefield commander, ... To go down there, I would have been doing Mike Brown's job.

 When tragedy struck, we could have easily abandoned our commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and focused on the people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. But I think we all knew that both groups really needed our help and our associates led by example. First, they involved their families and communities in their Fall festivals, and second they reached into their own pocketbooks, like so many other Americans, and contributed thousands of dollars toward the relief effort for the people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

 What is unique about the My Medicare Matters(TM) campaign is that it is a grassroots, on-the-ground educational initiative that is not affiliated with any specific plan. My Medicare Matters(TM) gives personalized, one-on-one help to those eligible for Medicare, especially those with limited income and resources.

 My personal feeling is if the complexity becomes difficult for me, I frequently will pass off part of my decision to some trusted adviser or rely on an expert recommendation, ... My husband is more into this than I am. When the decision gets into making trade-offs, I want to make the decision but I may not want to spend the time (learning about the product enhancements). When we were buying PCs in the beginning in the 1980s, it was the same situation: People wanted computers but didn't know what to buy. Everybody in the neighborhood would go to the person who was the expert.

 Our thought was that on every single possession, we were going to push the basketball. If they got tired, we knew we could absolutely run the floor and it worked out beautifully. ... "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. It's just a plan. All I can do is tell the boys what we want to try to do. If I can give them a plan and they can come out and execute it, then that's a tribute to them.

 It was just terrifying … even the fact that they knew I was involved in Celtic (football club), they knew where I lived, they knew my family.

 She's been wonderful. What I love is her enthusiasm and her willingness to roll up her sleeves and get involved. She's learning from the inside out. There's a wide array of these tiny details that go into a gala for close to 600 people. She's doing a great job following up on a lot of the details and helping out.

 Along with the overreaching department plan, each combatant commander must have a plan in place to address pandemic influenza, a potentially very infectious disease. Some people may be sick for a while, and the commanders have to project how this could affect their ability to perform the mission.

 I cannot go into operational details, but I can tell you that we are going only after terrorists and terrorist centers, and their infrastructure. We are not going there against the Palestinian people. We are there just to uproot terror.

 We want to get started on that process as soon as we have a plan. It's something we knew about, so this is just all part of the plan that we hope to begin once we get the community involved.
