 This one has similarities to the storm in late January of 1966. That one produced blizzard conditions over New England and New York, and there also was quite a bit of heavy snow down into the Washington area.

 We will likely see quite a reversal of the January surge in housing starts during February as a mid-month blizzard blanketed the East Coast under heavy banks of snow.

 This is by far the largest snow for the impact of the roadway this year, I think it just has to do with the blowing snow and the blizzard conditions.

 The worst thing now is a blizzard snow storm and it goes to 0 (degrees).

 It's a pretty big storm system. It's really tapping the moisture from the Gulf and the sheer strength of the storm is leading to really heavy snow.

 In a bad storm, it can seem like a fun and fascinating idea to walk around in the snow. At blizzard levels, there is little to no visibility so plows and cars cannot see pedestrians. Residents should avoid traveling near these vehicles whenever possible to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

 People should really just kind of stay in and wait out the storm, if at all possible. The roads will be snow-covered and treacherous. Visibility could be down to a quarter-mile for three hours or more during the heaviest snow late Saturday night and in the early morning hours Sunday.

 In a couple of instances we had poor conditions for a flood. With the amount of rain we were receiving, if you start putting heavy equipment on dirt roads, it just turns into a muddy mess. You can't get vehicles there. It is absolutely miserable. It is important to maintain your levee so it is accessible during a heavy storm event.

 Last year when we had a big snow storm in January we were seeing some days with a 15 per cent increase in phone calls, telephone claims.

 A blizzard warning is in effect for all of the Oregon Cascades and the southwest Washington Cascades now until Thursday morning. It's the first blizzard warning of the winter.

 It's more than just whether there's snow or not. We don't want to be out here during a storm or in slushy conditions. There are a lot of variables to consider, it's best if people call ahead before coming out.

 Retailers, after reporting a better than expected January, are having the opposite effect for February. Cold blizzard-like conditions in the Midwest and eastern Atlantic states hurt same-store sales, although Wal-Mart showed a 2.9%+ gain. Retailers are looking forward to March with the Easter spending.

 A heavy band of snow is moving up to that area right now. We've had reports of 4 inches in Maddock.

 It's the perfect week for spring skiing. The snow is really nice. It has set up since the last storm and the afternoon sun is making for great riding conditions.

 I suppose I should have my say about the terrorist attacks (9/11). I don't suppose it'll be a popular point of view, but they need to be put into some sort of perspective. She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. They were a horrible tragedy, but also what happened in New York and Washington is the same thing that England and America did to Berlin every day for three years during WW2 - and Germany did the same thing to England. But most Americans don't think about that. They think everything starts and finishes with America.
