It's a pretty big storm system. It's really tapping the moisture from the Gulf and the sheer strength of the storm is leading to really heavy snow.

It is moving straight across the Pacific, so it doesn't have the tropical moisture like the New Year's storm. We're expecting snow levels to drop by Wednesday morning to 5,000 feet. It is still questionable how low the snow will go on the valley floor.

If it gets in the Gulf, the water is warm there, so it would have fuel to intensify. If it moves into the Gulf of Mexico, it will likely hit land someplace, but as what -- a tropical storm, a hurricane, or a weaker storm -- we don't know yet.

Now we are talking about a very dangerous Category 4 storm. It could become the nastiest thing in the Gulf of Mexico since Camille. This is a bad storm.

Tropical Storm Arlene infected kudzu plants in Florida between June 8 and June 10. During that time, the storm moved rust spores into the Gulf, and a subsequent storm moved spores into Mississippi and Alabama, specifically George County, MS.

Although Arlene is not at hurricane strength, the storm is predicted to cause heavy rainfall, which could cause flooding.
