As a board we need to think about the town, not just the local residents.

It's just unfortunate that Smithtown has chosen to move ahead with this. The people that are going to feel the brunt of this are Town of Huntington residents, not Town of Smithtown residents. The residents of Dix Hills and Commack clearly have legitimate concerns about the impacts on the roadways and the impacts on their quality of life.

I enjoy working with issues that are important for the town. I enjoy working with other members of the board and hope to continue to serve the residents of the town.

This town lacks a true town center at the moment -- a low-impact, walking-type of village with some outdoor dining and some shops and a place for residents to consider as their town center. Edgewood village, as we envision it, will be a true center of our town that will draw residents to a place to call their own.

It is very much a legitimate debate, and ultimately, it's the local residents that are going to decide this. But let's have this debate settled in a way that makes all local residents proud.

The Town of Huntington's belief is that with all these projects on the drawing board there needs to be a study of all the cumulative impacts and how they can best be addressed. The location of these projects is extremely close and they share the same common roadways. There has to be a cumulative impact. We are not trying to hold up the project. We are trying to foster good planning. Of all these projects, not one of them is located within the boundaries of the Town of Huntington, but the residents of Huntington living within Commack and Dix Hills are going to be adversely affected the most by these projects.

That's going to be a huge issue that we haven't addressed yet. In all likelihood I would frankly expect that taxes would actually probably go up for town residents, relative to city residents.

The board of directors are local residents who live and breathe in the territory they cover. They all serve on a volunteer basis. They truly are community leaders that care about their territory and having job creation in their territory.
