 Over the past year, we've seen a 50 percent decrease in donations. That's pretty big. It's very puzzling why this would be occurring.

 I can tell you, in the past five years, we've seen a continued and remarkable decrease in risk management issues, hazing issues and all that stuff continues to decrease year in and year out. A lot of that is because the type of men we are attracting to our organizations are the ones who are looking to do well academically, who are looking to get something out of college beyond the party experience.

 Typically, individuals are allowed to make donations not exceeding 50 percent of their adjusted gross income. The Katrina law allows for donations up to 100 percent through Dec. 31.

 At least in the near term we are seeing a sharp decrease in natural gas prices because the weather has been warmer nationwide and storage levels are running 30 percent above the five-year average. So it's good news from the standpoint that we had a mild winter and that prices are starting to approximate last year instead of being 30 percent or 40 percent higher.

 Over the past three years there has been a 17 percent decrease in teenage drug use.

 (Donations) slow down during the summer. I've only been here since the first of the year, but it has slowed down. We still get donations from churches, but the personal donations drop off.

 We started one year ago, and have had four drives since then. At the first drive we had 33 donations, and at the last one in July we had 99. It's amazing. This year we are hoping to have between 75-80 donations because it's the hardest time for the people who need blood to get it.

 Fifty-four percent of hiring managers surveyed by CareerBuilder.com say they will increase their staffs in the coming year while only 9 percent will decrease them.
