 Geoff's been a good friend of the band for years. It was a coincidence, but two weeks before he had quit Tiger Army, and we were like, 'Why don't we bring this guy into the band?'  Many students felt violated by what happened. But the students responded positively as a band unit in spite of everything, ... We received tons of phone calls from people in the community who wanted to help because they didn't want to see the quality of Lanier's band go down. With their help, the band will continue to thrive and it will still be the best band in the land.

 I'd like to go on the road again with a band. When I did it I loved the social aspects of it, you know traveling with the band and all, but I didn't like the music as well. And there was nothing of visual interest. Maybe I would have to get someone else to play so I could finally dance the way I was born to do.

 We will be playing this New Year's Eve at the American Legion where I first played with my father and several others on New Year's Eve 50 years ago. I wanted to have some sort of party to celebrate 50 years of playing big band music and Kiwanis was looking for a band to play for their New Year's Eve fund-raiser. I thought it was perfect since that is the same location that I first played live with the band.

 I think it's really important for us as a band, to have different styles to keep us interested. At least that's what I look for when I listen to a band. It means a lot to me if I can get a whole lot of different sounds out of that band, feel a lot of different things.

 I think with Sentinel, and every band's biased of themselves obviously, there's a large element of singularity to us. There really isn't another band like us in the mainstream. There may be a band in the underground that I don't know about, but when you get down to it, the mix of the vocals and the mix of the list that we play, nobody out there is in any way like us.

 Our live performances make believers in the band. We put on a different kind of show. We're not a bar band. We're a band for people excited to see original music.

 One of the reasons we survive as a band is that we are seen as a band of today. We don't want to be seen as a band that tours and plays old songs. We feel that we are making the best music of our careers.

 Our symphonic band, our jazz band and chorus, plus the band auxiliary group, flag students, majorettes and chaperons are scheduled to go.
