But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. And I think that is why people are staying.

 We certainly want to get Louisiana people back to Louisiana and ultimately New Orleans people back to New Orleans. The first thing we need to do is get them out of shelters.

 The truth of the matter is, whatever the possibilities between New Orleans and San Antonio, that may have been once upon a time, but that's all pre-Katrina. With the effect the Saints can have on the people of New Orleans and Louisiana, I think they will make every effort to keep them there.

 We talked about what would be fun and what would be worthwhile. We were thinking about maybe something like Habitat for Humanity. But everything was either out of our price range or beyond our time frame. Then one of the Campus Crusade members talked to us about either going to Panama City, Florida or New Orleans to help out with Katrina relief and we felt New Orleans would be worthwhile.

 If the people of Louisiana are lucky, both the governor and the mayor will appoint personal representatives who will work with one another, ... In other words, they can get the bad blood out of the room by delegating it away.

 Football has been an inspiration to people who have other troubles. There are problems throughout New Orleans and Louisiana. We owe to those people not to take football from them.

 Since the hurricane, there is a new 'normal' in Baton Rouge. We have become Louisiana's largest city. We went from 350,000 to 600,000 in a few days. There is gridlock at many intersections as New Orleans people struggle in a new city. There have been rumors of increased crime, desperate people wandering the streets.

 [Comedian Eddie Griffin plans to donate his fee from two Friday performances at the Delta Downs Race Track Casino & Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana, to relief efforts.] Performing so close to New Orleans (230 miles away), my first thought was, 'How could I not help these unfortunate people?' ... I ask everyone to reach into their pockets and do the same to help these people.

 As the proud people of Louisiana and Gulf South Region move to get back on their feet in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints organization would like to be at the forefront of these efforts, ...  We can charge the government with criminal neglect of the people of New Orleans, Louisiana and Mississippi. For five days, the government did not act. Lives were lost.
