 We have noticed that the first couple of storms are usually the worst. Slow down. That's what seems to be the cause of [accidents].

 As the city continues to grow and more and more natural vegetation is being paved over, we've noticed less storms rolling into the valley because the heat island basically steers storms and weather patterns away from an area,

 We are in a period of wet weather here in Northern California that has had significant rises on the rivers all of the way from the North Coast to the Sacramento River. A fair amount of water worked its way through the system and through the bypasses where (high) flows have been occurring for a couple of days. Storms have been coming as expected. Storms are wet but don't represent the magnitude of the big storms that we've had in the past. Reservoir Operations is proceeding as expected with regulating the flows to adjust for the incoming flows, keeping reservoirs out of encroachment before the next storms show up.

 In January, storms came through every three to five days. Nothing too big. The biggest storm (at a ski resort) was two feet. The past couple of storms have left 6 to 12 inches.

 This ranks up there with one of the worst storms in quite some time. It's possibly the worst in 100 years. It's definitely the worst in the last 15 years.

 I've been back there a lot in the last couple of days and I honestly have not noticed a problem. Yuri and I have been busy working hard and we never stopped and even noticed that our environment was in any way disturbing us.

 This is the worst storm we've had in a long, long time, ... I would say this is one of the two or three worst storms I've seen in 30-40 years.

 This would be certainly one of the worst storms we've had in the last two or three years.

 I think there is going to be a lot more because of the storms. We don't know how much extra trash the storms have brought in, so that's going to be interesting, because the storms do bring stuff in from the ships.

 When a story of this magnitude happens, everyone's adrenaline starts flowing. I have people calling me that were in Katrina. They were there for a week or two afterward. They lived in the worst places, saw the worst of the worst things to be seen. We gave them a couple of days off thinking they could rest. Now they want to go.

 There are quite a few accidents at this intersection. We think it will slow down some of the kids.

 He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. The decorative designs at intersections has been known to slow people down. When everything looks the same, people slow down. Widening the sidewalks a couple of inches will narrow the roadway and that's a proven way to slow drivers down.

 It has been known for a long time that New Orleans was not adequately protected from the worst storms.

 I'm the worst person to ask about how to get noticed. It took me 25 years.

 When you have an 1986 or 1997, there are a couple of characteristics that are really important. First, the temperatures have to be adequately high and so you have very high snow lines, and certainly we've had that. Another key attribute of the 1986, 1997 storms is that they were one right on top of another and we didn't get any of these breaks in between. That is why we are not anticipating the same level of problems. (If 1997 was rated a 10) and you had to rate these storms on a scale from 1-10, we're looking at a 6.
