 They play really hard and do a lot of good things out there, and we just didn't counter it.

 I think we learned some things about ourselves today. We saw some good things and we saw some things we need to work on. We didn't play a lot of our veterans because we know what they can do. It was nice to see some of our younger players step up and make plays. I thought we really played hard, but that didn't surprise me. Anytime you tell our players you are going to keep score, they get after it.

 We've been doing the little things well. We always make sure we play the game hard. Unfortunately, these last two games, some of those things didn't go real good for us.

 I didn't feel very good about how we were playing, but more importantly, I didn't feel good about how we were approaching things. We weren't playing hard and seemed to be living on the fact that people thought we were good instead of showing them in our play. But that loss woke us up, I think.

 We did some good things, but the thing I'm most disappointed in is at the end we didn't play as hard as we needed to.

 It was ugly but a win is a win. I'll take any win we can get. We came out flat and fell behind early. We battled back with four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth. It was one of those types of games where we didn't play well. It's hard to win games when you don't pitch well and don't play good defense. We hung around and didn't quit. That makes me very happy. The kids have started to believe they can win, even when things are bad. That's a major step in the right direction.

 So with different personnel, you can run the same play, but your option that might be one of your main options for one team, for the other team, it might be a whole totally different option. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect. So they have a familiarity in knowing some things you want to run, some tendencies as far as what you're going to do. But we're kind of a counter puncher. You come out, we jab, we jab, we see what you're going to throw, and then we counter-punch that.

 We didn't play great the first period, but we didn't play too bad. I think they (Skidmore) played really well. They skated hard and their goalie played really well. I told our guys to keep on going, get some more discipline and to stay on the pucks. And we did. We beat them to a lot of loose pucks in the corner. We had some good jumps. Once we got the first goal it kind of opened things up. We got a lot of momentum off that.

 If we're better than the other team, and we play hard, good things will happen for us. Obviously, anytime you can get lead, it's not a bad thing, but it's hard to play hard every night. There weren't any girls out there that I was disappointed in at all, actually.

 One of the things I wanted to see was us play hard, ... For whatever reason, we didn't play hard [against Tulane]. But we were focused the whole trip, and we practiced well last week.

 I think our team realizes, especially with the two (in-state) losses during the season, that when we play hard and play as a team, we get a good outcome. Obviously (against Air Academy), things didn't go our way but we stayed together and pulled it out.

 I think their blitz package was good. We felt like they were going to blitz. There were things we were going to do to counter that. They just didn't work as well as we wanted them to.

 We had to turn it up and play hard. Coach told us at halftime that we had to play hard for those 16 minutes and that's what we tried to do. We just didn't play our game in the beginning at all. We were half-playing at the start and we didn't come out ready to play.

 Santa Cruz has very good speed this year. The last time we played them, we had a hard time scoring on the counter attack. We expect a similar type game, so we are going to have to play good defense and execute well in our half court offense and 6-on-5 opportunities.

 We did real well tonight and the guys played hard. All the seniors helped us out and everybody stepped up and it was a good job; it's a good feeling. We didn't play that well last night and we just got things going tonight.
