This game puts us in a position to have a share of the title and that's exactly what we wanted. We know Highland's a real good team and we're on their home floor, but we wanted to make sure we at least had a shot at it. Now we do.

When we were patient on offense and got a good shot, we did well. When we played too fast and didn't get a good shot, we let Zion back into the game. Benny did a real nice job for us. He wanted to win.

We really struggled at both ends of the floor offensively and defensively. It seems like when we would make a run to get it down to 10 or six points, they would hit a 3-pointer or a big shot to get them in control. We never had a chance to get the game to where we wanted it.

Every time you step on the floor, it could be your last. We wanted to make it a full-court game, we wanted to pressure them.

A lot of people didn't think we'd get here. But we believed from day one that we could get here. ... We did make the top (title) game like we wanted to, but I'm so proud that we did bring home a third place trophy. There's only two teams that finish out with a win and we're one of them.

I just wanted to push him out as far as I could and just stay down. He's good at that pump fake and drawing the foul late in the game. So I wanted to keep my hands up and make it a tough shot. If he makes it, he makes it.

All of them wanted us to come inside and we spread the floor. Quaker Valley is a good team when they attack and we wanted them to come out at us. That is why we got outside with some open shots.

It was important for us to come out here and get a win. We wanted to get the win, especially at home. We are going to be at home for the next few weeks, so we wanted to make sure we had a good showing at home. That's the thing with Dell Rapids, you can't let them get out to a fast start. We certainly couldn't chase them man-to-man. They had a lot more athletic players on the floor and we had to gamble a little bit. They're a very good inside team, and they're a very good outside team. But you can't stop both. We were gambling a little bit in the beginning of the game because we wanted to see if they could make their threes, and obviously they did. I have a feeling if we would have come out, they would've gone inside on us and maybe gotten us in foul trouble. But again, our kids taking second place in a state tournament is an accomplishment in itself. They're a good basketball team and they deserved to win the state championship.

We're not happy with a share of the title. We wanted to win the title outright. We'll take this as a lesson and still try to win a (Division II) championship.

We're growing as a team and that means having poise in pressure situations. When things get tight at the end of a game like that, you have to get a shot every time down the floor, make it a good shot, and knock in your free throws. We did that.

This puts us in a good position to get that league title. In the past it's almost been a gimme that you could get to the state tournament if you had a pretty good team. This season it's going to be tougher.
