So far, the pitching has been very good. The hitters are still getting their timing down. The pitching has remained consistent and we are scoring enough to win and getting some timely hits. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness.

He had not been pitching on a consistent basis, ... Even though he had given up only two hits, he had gotten behind a lot of hitters.

I think we saw the result of not pitching in a game. Even at that, they only got two hits off him. But he was behind a lot of hitters and threw a lot of pitches.

You look at it and we've got 11 wins. We've got some guys hitting at or under .200. We need to get those guys going. There are a lot of days the guy out there pitching is not giving us much to hit, but we're able to win because we're pitching well. You just take whatever it is. Right now, a few hitters are sluggish. The games still count. You've got to find a way.

We hit in spurts tonight and we were able to string together some hits to get the win. But our pitching and our defense were the keys to the win tonight.

When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

After a few days off, you can get lackadaisical or lethargic in your play. Yeah, our bullpen was healthy, but at the same time, when you don't see live pitching, when you don't see live hitters and you don't see live stuff coming off the bats, it's a lot different.

Kansas City is going through a tough time right now obviously. But they still have good hitters. Felix threw the ball well. The pitches he made would have been tough on anyone.

I had trouble working ahead of hitters tonight. I was always having to come back [in the count]. I gave up a lot of hits [on 2-0 counts].

We saw the result of him not pitching in a game for 14 days. Even given that, he gave up only two hits.

When Felix comes here, you want him to play a decent amount of time. If we had an injury in the outfield, it certainly would've been Felix [who was called up]. He's capable of coming up and performing.

I still think there is a scarcity of pitching. Pitchers are supposed to be ahead of the hitters. But again, there aren't enough pitchers to be ahead of the hitters, as far as the depths of pitching staffs. Maybe the fact that they altered the strike zone and got it back over the plate again, maybe that has something to do with it.

Pitching and defense have been there all year for us. And tonight we got some timely hits. Hopefully we'll keep it going and hopefully put up a few more runs.
