 I think there's certainly an incredible emotion around the black 3. But I think with the right circumstances at Richard Childress Racing, and whether it's Dale Jr. or another driver that deserves a shot at earning that respect, I think it can be done.

 I feel like over the years that I've been here that I've earned more respect. But I don't know if I'll ever have the type of respect that Dale had. Because Dale had that kind of respect, everybody looked up to him. Whether they enjoyed racing with him or having dinner with him or not, they all respected him tremendously.

 We annually celebrate Mr. Jack's birthday in September across the world, but due to our affiliation with Richard Childress Racing and the millions of race fans across the country, we decided to kick off the celebration a little early with the fans at Bristol.

 He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself.

 He was one of the most competitive guys out there. There were days when he'd push you and shove you right out of the way and frustrate you, then there were other days where you just saw his talent and you had a blast racing with him. I think certainly the fans miss the excitement that he brought. I don't think there will be anybody to replace Dale. I believe he was the best race-car driver I've ever raced against.

 Martin will find that the intensity of the competition in Cup racing is much higher. But for the most part, he is an incredible driver and he has a good team and I think they will do well.

 I was watching TV, and they were talking about the tribute to Dale Earnhardt. Five years from now we're probably going to have to do another tribute to another driver because we're going to kill somebody from Wednesday to Sunday. It could be me or Dale Jr. or anybody.

 I knew Childress was going to help me because my crew told me on the radio. I really appreciate what Richard did, but that is typical of people in this sport.

 I think Janet Reno deserves commendation, not criticism. She has done an extraordinary job under very, very difficult circumstances, and she deserves our support, and she deserves every bit of the benefit of the doubt here until all the facts are known,

 Beautiful area, great facility. We've got a great group of guys at Don Schumacher Racing. He gives us incredible resources to work with. He gives you everything you need to get the job done. Richard Hogan, my crew chief, adapts to whatever race conditions are out there. I'm excited about the next few races. Can't wait to get back into the car.

 There were three times where I thought I totally lost the car. It's totally insane out there. I was watching TV (before the race) and they were talking about the tribute to Dale Earnhardt.  The girls are in a position now that when they do well, they are going to receive the attention. I think that everything that has been asked is all fair and good. I'm just extremely happy to have the opportunity to work with Richard Childress. He's first class.

 I figure, at my age, I still have three, four, maybe five years in (Champ Car) left in me, but it could be the right time to make a change and I want to take a good look at it. I've talked with some other teams over there (in NASCAR), but Richard Childress is the only one who has stepped up and made something happen at this point.

 Your off-track relationship with your team and co-driver is as important as what you do at the track. Dyson Racing is the perfect blend. Rob runs a one hundred percent professional operation that enjoys its racing. I worked well with Chris last year, and along with Butch, Andy and James, it's a great team with great people. A driver can't ask for more.

 How this all came about was that I went to Charlotte in May for the 600 to see if Richard Childress was telling me the truth about his wine, ... He'd been telling me how good it was, but I guess he couldn't afford the postage to send me a bottle.

 I really think that'll happen. I've informally talked to Richard (Childress), just so he knew I wanted to do that. I'll drive the No. 3 car toward the end of my career if I've done what I wanted to do at DEI, and that's win championships and win races. And I'll stick around as long as it takes to do it.
