 Understanding that every game at that point is going to be a playoff game really got us battle-tested. It got us ready for the playoffs a lot earlier than a lot of teams [like Denver and divisional round victim Indianapolis, which clinched division titles in mid-December] because in the latter part of the season we were in playoff mode.

 We just are who we are and Pittsburgh is who they are. The only thing I can think of is that they beat Indianapolis, a huge win for them. And that popped up Pittsburgh, as it should.

 We were supposed to be out of the way before we played Cincinnati (in the wild-card round), way before we played Indy (Indianapolis in the divisional playoff), so there's no way they can really, truly say that (the Seahawks are the underdog).

 The only thing I can think of (for the Steelers being favored) is that they beat Indianapolis, which was a huge win for them. Indy was having a great, great year and is a great football team. And that popped Pittsburgh, as it should.

 If you look at the playoff picture right now, I don't think a lot of people really thought Miami was going to beat Indianapolis, because Indianapolis has the big offense, He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.  I was hoping for a playoff type atmosphere. To be honest with you, I wish it would have been more a playoff atmosphere. We didn't get as much out of it as we wanted. I know we will play better in the playoffs.

 I've told our guys, let's just get to the midpoint of the season and stick our heads up out of the sand and take a look around, see where we're at, ... And if we're still in this thing, and Pittsburgh hasn't run away with the division, I won't be embarrassed at all to be in the playoff race or to be going into the playoffs at 8-8. Not one bit. We feel pretty good about ourselves.

 On the sports shows this week, people weren't even breaking down our game. They were just going right to the other games, saying Indianapolis was going to beat Pittsburgh. But that doesn't matter. When the whistle blows, all that stuff is out the window.

 I would have sworn that Indianapolis was going to go all the way. Now that Pittsburgh's in there, I think Seattle has got a shot at them.

 I know he's not very polished. But he'll fit in perfectly with my new eight-year plan to get this team to the divisional round of the playoffs.

 After a surprising Divisional Playoff weekend, I anticipate more excitement and for two more riveting games to be played before the Super Bowl contenders are decided.

 They [Pirates management] haven't said a word about it. Regardless of where I go, I'm just preparing for a long season, whether it's Pittsburgh or Indianapolis or a little bit of both.
