 It's not even his stats. It's more so his leadership. When he walked in the huddle, he was in command. He really had you confident. Never when we were down or tired did we think we were going to lose.

 You look at his leadership and the way he carries himself on and off the field. This kid stepped in right away, and all the players migrated to him. He had a command in the huddle, and the leadership just oozes out of him.

 Leadership. That's No. 1. Leadership. A good quarterback has got to have a presence of command, that without saying a word he convinces everyone in the huddle and everyone on the field that he's the man in charge.

 I think we have a guy who can really play. He has some savvy, and he's very confident. When he takes the field, he's in command. It's his huddle, and he makes good decisions with the ball.

 He's everything you want as a teammate. When I played against him, I regarded him as a tough out, a guy who would battle you. And that's what he is. You need guys like him to win. Everybody talks stats, stats, stats, and they lose perspective. You don't need big stats everywhere to have a winning team. You need guys like Bill Mueller.

 He was pretty impressive, ... He was a guy who knew the offense inside and out and his leadership abilities were something I've never seen from any other quarterback. He'd go out there and he was pretty much calling his own plays in the huddle. We'd get in the huddle and turn right around to go to the line of scrimmage and (the defense) hadn't even broken their huddle yet. He was a fast-tempo guy; he upped the tempo on everything.

 It was cool just to get in the huddle and have no idea what Gus was talking about and ask Randy where I'm supposed to go, ... It's a different kind of huddle. Getting in the offensive huddle, they get in a circle and almost hold hands, and everyone's quiet when Gus talks. Our [defensive] huddle is completely different.

 Matt's been confident since he showed up here, he's had control of the huddle, in practice, in training camp. In the games he's played in, he's always been confident in his ability.

 He took command in the huddle. He kept talking to me, trying to pump me up.

 I've never had command - just look at my stats.

 The guy's calm and collected. He just called plays and executed. The guy's just a winner. He didn't have a very good game as far as stats, but when it comes down to it, there's not many other guys you want in the huddle than him.

 The man upstairs watched after all of us real well.... We all walked off without a scratch. Very seldom do you lose $500,000 and smile, but we all got up and walked off. I have no gripe. I can make the money back. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself.

 In our system leadership is by consent, not command. To lead a President must persuade. Personal contacts and experiences help shape his thinking. They can be critical to his persuasiveness and thus to his leadership.

 They composed themselves very quickly. They really remained very calm, and they were very determined. You could see it when they walked back into the huddle prior to the overtime, and they just wanted to get it done.
