The bottom line is you have to play solid defense, especially when you are playing a team as talented as Florida State.

 Hopefully everybody starts swinging the bats better. Our bats are not where we want them right now. Half of the team is not hitting that good, but we're finding ways to win some games -- and that's the most important thing.

 As a team, we had a real good spring. Guys swung the bats real well, then all of a sudden everybody went into a slight batting slump together and right now they seem to be working their way out of that and hitting the ball consistently. We've hit some balls hard and haven't had any luck with the hits falling in, but now they're starting to fall in and that's the difference in winning.

 He made a lot of real good pitches and only made a couple of mistakes, even though the home run to Delgado wasn't a mistake. He made a real good pitch. I thought he did a decent job, especially against a team that has some real good bats and is leading the league in hitting.

 I think down the road it's going to help us. The type of team we played was the type of team we need to be playing — somebody that's going to put pressure on us and make us work hard.  I think the team that has the best chemistry, plays like a team the most, is going to have the opportunity to win the most games. I don't think teams have the luxury to have more than three stars on a team anymore. I think that's the bottom line.

 He's a dedicated player and he'll get some important at-bats. The real key is pitching. If our pitchers can keep us in the game we will be competitive. You can't sleep on any team in the Red Division or the county for that matter. From top to bottom the county is very solid.

 The way the kids have been bowling the last two weeks, I knew it was possible to put up these kind of scores. Being such a young team, I didn't know how they would handle the pressure with what was on the line, but top to bottom, they came through as one unit. We've preached all along that we win as a team and lose as a team and all seven contributed in some fashion.

 Even though everything tells you they are not going to do well because of the team, we're very excited about the direction they're going in, with the manager and the ball team. We had some hesitation, but when we did our research, we feel the Marlins are here to stay in South Florida ... The bottom line is they're still a Major League Baseball team. There's only 30 of them.

 We're playing real good baseball right now, ... The bottom line is we are getting real good starting pitching. If you get that and some timely hitting, you win ballgames.
