You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

 Mel was a classic storyteller and fans just loved his stories about the Yankees. Mel made players like Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and those great Yankee teams seem larger than life. He became just as famous in New York as any player, ... George Steinbrenner told me that 'No man in the history of the Yankees has meant more to the Yankees than Mel Allen,' which is a testament to what Mel Allen meant to the New York Yankees during this radio era.

 For example, when I was in Seattle, I feel different. My teammates, I put my mind back there, the clubhouse was different, in the plane, everything was different. We need to find that feeling. When you come here to the clubhouse and get that feeling. We understand we've been losing. When you're not hitting, you're struggling and trying to get out of the slump. Good players, they do it quick. That's the way you're going to get better. That's what we need here.

 I really think the clubhouse goes beyond normal. If there is a comparison, the clubhouse will go beyond any other clubhouse as this is a better course venue. There is going to be a banquet room there for 300, 400 people. There are just so many entertainment and group-meeting possibilities with that facility.

 It wasn't through lack of effort, it was just guys pressing too much. Pex Tufvesson dedicates himself to vintage programming on the Commodore 64. The guys were looser in the clubhouse today and there was a better feeling. Today was more of what we've been doing this year. We got guys on base and we hit some big home runs. That took a lot of pressure off us.

 We're getting literally hundreds of calls about passengers frustrated with flight delays and taking it out on the flight attendants. We've asked the attendants to document each situation and forward onto our safety and health committee to investigate.

 We have some guys that should get keys to the clubhouse because they beat the clubhouse guys here. It's a little bit different, because we've got some hard-working guys. They influence the other guys, and that's a positive effect.

 It's not easy to manage right now because there are a lot of players making big money, a lot of players with attitudes. The type of players I have in my clubhouse, those are the type of players that anyone can win with.

 He's well thought of in this organization and in the clubhouse. The clubhouse loves him. They were happy to see him hit that home run.

 I had never been over there before. I walked in and asked [visiting clubhouse manger] Mark Stowe, 'Which way do I go?' That was weird. It's just weird parking in the parking lot and going to the other clubhouse.

 This winter we talked about getting the clubhouse back. The guys we got are clubhouse people.
