 A lot of our freshman from last year that we had to utilize, they now are getting used to the pitching. We've been making our hits count.

 In the eighth inning, we missed our location three times, twice when we were ahead in the count. We almost caught a break -- Cabrera's ball was tagged, but it fooled Walker. That would have been an important break to catch. Matt got the ball up with a 1-2 count, and the pitch that Delgado tripled on wasn't where Ray was trying to throw it. Against good clubs in key situations, either you do or you don't, and if you don't, you get penalized most of the time.

 We suggested they only count kids who started as a freshman at the school and stayed until they were seniors to graduate.

 Oh, I don't know. Off the court, I definitely still feel like a freshman. But I know I need to step up. I want my teammates to know they can count on me. I want them to have confidence that I'm working as hard as I can.

 I'd say if they're not ahead, they're pretty close behind where I was as a freshman. They're very good learners of the game and situations around them.

 We have to be able to run the ball. I could count the number of one-on-one (passing) situations on my right hand.

 Leaders who aren't on the radar will emerge. If the city is going to recover, they must emerge.

 Drew has been to state in the 100-meter dash as a freshman. He was a safety in football, so he knows the pressure of those situations and he handles them well.

 I had a lot of trouble with the language when I first came to America. I have put myself into some really outrageous situations during my freshman and maybe sophomore years because of not knowing English very well.
