While it's nice to get some national recognition, all that really recognizes is that we got off to a good start our first 14 games and nothing more. Our guys understand that. They're not going to be all that fired up about it.

That was big. Our guys worked hard to get on base, and Phil?s been hitting the ball real nice for us all year. He got a nice pitch to hit and dropped the bat on the ball and it went out. That was a good start for us -- we needed that. We haven?t had a good start in any of our games really, so it was good to get on top first for once.

I think it adds a little excitement to it. It means something to the Redskins. We understand that and we understand that they will be fired up coming in here. I think our guys will be fired up, too.

There's a couple games that Mike gets pretty fired up for. And this is certainly one of them. I think this goes way back with him. And Isaac and guys that have been here (several) years understand that.

It's nice to get national recognition and for the panel of voters to consider us a Top 20- level team. But ultimately, we're not real concerned with national rankings but putting ourselves in the region tournament.

I just said to the guys, 'When certain things end you've got to get back on the horse and start all over again. That's over with, that's a nice chapter. Let's do something now through the next 73 games. The next 73 games are as important as the first nine.

If we are going to get the national recognition for our program we have to play some of these games. And we have to win some of them. There is no point in playing these games if we don't want to win.

Guys need to start playing with more confidence. We're taking steps to do that in practice today. All you can do is coach and teach and try to get guys through this. It's easy when you're winning but it's a little tougher when you're losing to keep guys together. But we got a pretty good group of guys. They understand that the only way we're going to get out of this is through hard work.

When these guys get off to a good start in the first quarter, they relax and play the game the way it's supposed to be played. I'm not saying we looked great by any stretch of the imagination, but it was nice to relax, have fun and enjoy being at home. In games like this, you don't have to do a lot of coaching.

Yeah, we had some trouble last week. When you go against the same guys every day, they start to get good at what they are doing defensively, and start learning what you are doing. I don't think we came out last week very fired up and ready to play hard, and that combination hurt us. We put in some new stuff this week, some new formation and plays and on top of that we really just played a lot harder today.

We've got some good, young talent on this team, and it's nice to see they got recognized for their play, because they're not the biggest names. There are a lot of guys out there who probably get more recognition from the media, but these guys go out there and play hard every week, and they put it on film, and the players around the league and the coaches around the league saw that. That's why they're going.

We have a lot of guys who are motivated and want to win. I want to see guys fired up every game, every practice and determined we can get the job done. Knowing we can go into LSU and USC can come into our building and we're going to win those games, knowing we can compete with anybody. That just comes down to showing up. We thought we were ready to play (in big games last year), but we weren't. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. We have a lot of guys who are motivated and want to win. I want to see guys fired up every game, every practice and determined we can get the job done. We thought we were ready to play (in big games last year), but we weren't.

We've got the games at the end of the year where any of those could end up being a national TV game, and that probably looks like it was set up that way. Cincinnati, being a national game, is going to be great, and we're starting to develop a little rivalry with those guys. So all in all, I think it was good.

I feel that if it's that high, and if I feel like I like college enough and my team is going to be successful next year, I think I could raise my stock if I came back, win some games and get everybody on a national level. If you win games, you can get everyone recognition.

That's a good question. I guess we'll figure that out if we can win one of these games. Our guys are doing a nice job of getting on the court and competing against anybody, but these will be very tough games.
