The northern region is pretty much a hockey hotbed.

I can't believe that a Northern Region team hasn't won it in 25 years. There's four regions, so you'd figure, on average, once every four years you should [have a Northern Region team win]. Now you'll have dry periods but to go 25 years without another state championship is an anomaly.

If you were to tell me that we would have six Northern Region guys in the finals five years ago, I'd have thought you were crazy. I think (the festival) is a good opportunity to establish Fort Collins as the literary hotbed of the region. It will allow us to celebrate what we have here already and expand on that.

The region is becoming known as a hotbed of entrepreneurship, spurred in part by a new class of residents: affluent young retirees who move to the area and, bored with retirement, start new businesses.

The Northeast is kind of the hotbed of lacrosse, but now it's pretty much nationwide. There are incredible programs from California to Colorado to the South ? everywhere.

[Field hockey] is pretty interesting to play. It's a lot more passing and fun stick work. There's a lot of teamwork too, which I like. Ice hockey's a lot faster and more physical. Field hockey might not be as fun to watch but it's a lot of fun to play.

I think we're being blinded by the blockbusters. Sports movies have been pretty consistent. It's not a hotbed of $100 million films, but it's a solid performing genre.
