 It's helped our whole team. We still need to elevate our play quite a bit, but we seem to be playing better for longer stretches (of games).

 It's tough playing in this environment as a freshman, but he held his team in the game late. His play helped me elevate my game and made me want to compete harder and answer him at the other end.

 We had 10 guys go Division I from our team and Quick is on the team here. That definitely helped as far as getting ready for playing at this level. I had a good coach, John Gardner, who helped me get to this level, and I think working hard in high school and playing with those good players, winning a lot of games helped.

 I think it's been a different team and different feel from start to finish. It helps when you win some games, too, along the way. You don't have those stretches where you don't win for a month and it just wears on you. So I think that has helped our morale tremendously.

 Fields had some great stretches where he was invincible for us in big games ... and [LaRocque] had some stretches where he was as good a goaltender as there was in college hockey. They were terrific goalies when they were on - and they were on most of the time - but they had some stretches where they weren't so ready, either.

 Well, I don't think looking solely at our four games with them is really a good indicator. We'll have to play like we've played in some of the stretches since the Olympic break. If we get that kind of play then we're going to be a good competitive team.

 I was happy with the play of the team, especially with our defensive play. To give up five goals in four games is a real accomplishment for this team. We have been able to play all four lines most of the time, and I think that has really helped us in the third period wearing teams down. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. I was happy with the play of the team, especially with our defensive play.  That was one of the bright spots for us. We kept chipping at them. We have to play well for longer stretches. With only one starter returning, we're still trying to get acclimated to varsity play.

 I just think a couple of our guys need to fight through it and play harder in those stretches. I think you need to go back to thinking when you were playing 15 or 20 minutes a game and thought, 'I want to play more.' Well, now you're playing more.

 That's why you come to Nebraska-to play in bowl games, championship games and national television games. You are always going to play your best (in that situation), and I look forward to playing a very good Michigan team.

 Our team is not playing enough of a 48-minute game and that's the disappointing thing. We know it's tough to win road games. This was a hot team team we were playing, give them credit. But you can't play 18-20 minutes of a second half and expect to beat any NBA team.

 We felt like we made a lot of strides and are beginning to put some things in place that are going to help us become a winning team. We know we have a long way to go. Being in a tough division with Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincinnati will elevate our play and elevate our standards. In order for us to compete in our own division, we're going to have to get a lot better and a lot quicker.

 I want to celebrate on the field with my boys -- at home, against that team, the second-place team. I've never been in this situation before. I love to compete in games like this. This is what you play sports for, for meaningful games. Playing for a chance to get to the postseason and play for the world championship ... it doesn't get any better than that.

 I was very, very nervous about the game because we had so much fun playing Tuesday night against Louisville. Fun as in we won in a kind of loose fashion. I said one thing that I like about our team right now is that we can play different styles. We can play different types of games. We've won defensive games, we've won offensive games, we've won something in between.

 It's a deciding time, you either win or you go home. We've got a lot of guys on the team that will probably play their last games for the national team. We want to give it our best and play a little bit longer.
