 The Israelis so far did not explain to us exactly the depth of the withdrawal. Whether it is total - comprehensive - or not. Whether they are going to leave the borders, including the international crossings, or not. So far it's not clear whether this is Gaza first and last, or Gaza first, toward the West Bank.

The Gaza Strip should be open to the outside world and the West Bank. Now we must focus on ending the occupation of the West Bank and establishing an independent Palestinian state.

 Such a withdrawal, or at least preparations for a withdrawal, can keep alive prospects for positive movement in the Israeli-Palestinian arena, which can be an asset for the (US) administration.
