 There is some segment of the population that may be uncomfortable with talking to machines, but the majority of the population has been trained by Hollywood as to how you talk to machines. 'Star Trek' taught us that.

 If I have 10,000 machines, I can set up a policy, one time, to block a given application. And that would propagate across all of my 10,000 machines.

 We have no plan to phase out all sales of VCR machines at this time, ... However, many customers are opting to purchase our dual machines (which retail for about $150) that play both DVD and VHS formats.

 Today, if I have a slot floor with 2,000 machines and I want to make changes, I'd have to go to each and every one of them, open them up and change out the components. Not only does that take a lot of time, but the machines are down for that period of time.

 We're given a deadline that's an arbitrary date to replace our machines when we didn't have any problems with our voting machines last time. They worked fine. And now, they are going to be absolutely useless.

 It can be labor intensive. But with any industry, machines make it possible to complete the job fastest and make it less stressful on the employees. We've been integrating these machines into our repairs a little at a time the past 20 years or so.

 We had a couple glitches in the beginning with the machines. But there were no major problems. I think the only major issue was intimidation with the machines. Some people tried to make it harder than it was.

 If we can find some way to do this without destroying their [people illegally downloading music] machines, we'd be interested in hearing about that. If that's the only way, then I'm all for destroying their machines.

 They spend their time locked in on these machines and spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars monthly on the machines themselves.

 A rash of broken machines is not expected. The board is doing a better job of training poll watchers and they're maintaining the machines better.
