en I think people could come out of this movie thinking, although all of these are very serious subjects, (political) spin is very serious because the truth is more important than the spin. But sometimes spin becomes the truth, or that's the perception.

en I don't know if that was a [penalty kick] or not. He clipped the guy, but he got the ball. I think that's only a penalty kick in high school soccer. Anywhere else, it wouldn't be.

en When it's an eight-man front, the back has to beat one guy. We can't block everybody. Knowing he has the ball and he's either going to run them over for a yard or he's going to make them pay, it's nice to know he's back there. I've seen him forearm guys and flip them on their head.

en I don't know why we keep coming out flat. We spot teams one goal and then we start to play. We played a little too much kick ball. It's not the way we were playing the other day. For some reason, we keep falling back into this kick ball stuff. Midland High moved the ball the way we needed to.

en Balancing on an unstable surface, I'm forced to use every muscle in my leg and all the muscles in my foot. It also strengthens my ankles, which is important considering the number of ankle sprains in soccer. You don't need to add the kick. At home I'll just balance on the disk for a minute. If my husband or son [Cameron, 16] is around, sometimes they'll toss the ball, and I'll catch it instead of kick it.

en [But the coaches felt he could have hustled back on defense more, which would become a common criticism.] Andy's got great soccer ability, which is why he's been in the league so long, ...
