 Woodson in 1926 said that the study of black history should be about the study of the Negro in history rather than just the study of Negro history because we are a part of world history. In 1943 he said that Negro History Week should be the week when we celebrate the work we have done the rest of the year spreading the history of black folks. Now today it is almost the exact opposite.

 You can think of Hollywood as high school. TV actors are freshmen, comedy actors are maybe juniors, and dramatic actors - they're the cool seniors.

 Now I am happy I did 'Gone With the Wind.' I wasn't when I was 28, but it's part of black history. You have no idea how hard it is for black actors, but things change, things blossom in time.

 Black history doesn't start with Dr. King. Black history begins with the forefathers and foremothers. Get your parents to be honest with you. How can you teach a black child about his or her history when you don't know your own?

 He changed the way Hollywood looked at black cinematography. He really showed Hollywood that the black story can be told differently and, if they don't invest in us, we'll invest in ourselves. So many other blacks are going to be following that lead.

 We're hoping for stellar attendance at the events. I can't say enough about what it means. Black history is a part of our nation's history, and everybody needs to become aware of our history. I hope people will come out and support the events.

 The best players in the world are playing to make history. There are only four tournaments you can win to make history, and TPC (The Players Championship) is not one of them. And neither are those world events. And you're not going to make history winning some kind of FedEx Cup.

 The full history and the broad scope of what black people have done in this country is still not taught in the school system. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate [Black History Month], I tend to agree with [Professor] Morris Jenkins he's kinda looking at black history season, not a month. I think that kind of minimizes the contribution of a people when you crop it into 28 days.

 I happen to be one of the actors that was working at that time, which was during Black History Month. If you're not working in February, you'd better get yourself another job.

 Dale single-handedly chang-ed the way Hollywood makes movies about the military, ... He gives the actors a real sense of obligation about what they're doing. At night he'd play '40s music and talk about some of the history leading up to the war in Japan so he could bring these guys into this frame of thinking.

 You're not always going to get a double-double but we want him to play with emotion and intensity. Does what he did tonight make coach happy for the rest of the playoffs? No way. He's still paying me back.

 Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness.

 The Hollywood brand isn't the best anymore, and Hollywood actors aren't effective enough anymore. Consumers are in favor of singers or artists who are familiar, rather than foreign movie stars.

 Hip Hop offers new ways of seeing and understanding what it means to be black at this pivotal time in history.

 Black History Month is not just for African-Americans. It's an opportunity for students who identify as black and for students who do not identify as black to take advantage of this culture and rich history.
