 I know Plastered has won 10 races but his weight will be based around one race only, and that's the Victoria Derby,

 The Santa Anita Derby and Kentucky Derby are two totally different-run races, with a speed-biased track and short field compared with going back there with a 20-horse field and who knows what the pace scenario will be? This is a big race, a $750,000 Grade I. To win that would be a big deal. The Kentucky Derby is like a one-hand poker game. Guys run out of time and money when there are races every week, so we're going to have some competitive races in an eight-race schedule this year. The ultimate goal for 2007 is to have as many as 14 races.

 I can't believe it. I actually thought I had won the race. I tried very hard. Based on previous races with Dan, there was no way I was going to give him much room, but he beat me anyway. I guess it was not meant to be.

 We must have a foreign policy which is based only on the long-term interests of our race, not on the interest of other races or on economic considerations or anything else.

 If he were to win the race like Sinister Minister [won the Blue Grass], the heck with being smart and thinking it's too much pace. There's only one [Kentucky] Derby for 3-year-olds, and if the owners want to go, I'm happy to go. If he were to win by five or more, it's hard to tell the owners they can't run in the Derby.

Race seems to embody a fact as simple and as obvious as the noonday sun, but if that is so, why the endless wrangling about the idea and the facts of race. What is a race? How can it be recognized? Who constitute the several races?

 Sometimes I would race in two races, get a one race break and get back on for the next race. After that third race I would collapse when I got off my sled.
