I read a lot gezegde

 I read a lot of archaeology and early history in a general way, not thinking particularly of this book, and this provided me with the background. It showed me how, possibly, the people lived back then.

 I love the Plymouth library. I went to the history room and read the book on the 20th century history of Plymouth and thought it was great. I read they were going to do a second book. I hadn't thought about that case in years, but it all came back. I read what was available on it and realized we needed a more balanced treatment.

 War is always seductive, ... 'Full Metal Jacket' didn't make me want to join the Marines. I already had fallen in love with the idea of combat. I think whether somebody feels that about our movie is subjective. It depends on the viewer. I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I can't wait' and I got letters from people who said 'I was thinking about joining up and I read your book and now I'm going to go to college.'

 I lived in a region in the northwestern province - the people there in general have a great love for the Taliban, so I started to read some of the literature of the scholars and the history of the movement. And my heart became attached to them.

 My vision for this book and the others in the series is to let people know what kind of commanders we have, ... You don't pick generals off park benches. ... They are experts at what they do and lot of thinking goes into it. And I want to get across to people the intellectual dimension of command, to let people know that it's hard to be a general. And the people we have with general stars on their shoulders are pretty smart and pretty good guys.

 I find your question bizarre, ... It would be along the line of saying that I shouldn't see a movie that involves an accident. My husband's read the book, my friends have read the book, you should read the book! It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

 For most people, what is so painful about reading is that you read something and you don't have anybody to share it with. In part what the book club opens up is that people can read a book and then have someone else to talk about it with. Then they see that a book can lead to the pleasure of conversation, that the solitary act of reading can actually be a part of the path to communion and community.

 I have no idea whether anyone will have any desire to read it. Will people who don't know me at all grab the book off the shelf to read it? That would be lovely, but I didn't think about the audience when I was writing. You're building the book for yourself, and it becomes your companion. If people hate it, then that's great ? at least they have an opinion about it.

 Read 'People's History of the United States', that book will f***-n blow your mind,

 I think it's a stupid way to read a book, ... to say that because something happens to one person the author is trying to suggest that all people are like this. The novel is the art of the particular. And I'm talking about a particular person whose development from innocence to guilt, if you like, is his own particular narrative arc. The point is to make that coherent - not to read the book as some kind of simple allegory, but to read it as a story about a person.

 I don't know why, but I read that book and I learned about test flight and the history of the astronaut program and that's when I set it as a lifetime goal. I did not like the movie, but I loved the book.

 Everything I know I learned from Mel and the talented people who worked for him. History. Archaeology. Geology. Electronics. You name it.

 Let me say again that I have not read your book. And one of the reasons I didn't was because I wanted to do my own research. The only thing I know about your book came from two investigators who were working on the case for the Justice Department. I have not read your book, and you have not seen my film.

 The way a book is read - which is to say, the qualities a reader brings to a book - can have as much to do with its worth as anything the author puts in it. Anyone who can read, can learn to read deeply and thus live more fully.

 We did not commission a book. The idea was brought to us by an outside consultant. We explored it, provided some background information ... but in the final analysis, decided it wasn't the right thing for us to do.
