Rejection of the constitution gezegde

Rejection of the constitution would be an embarrassment for the Bush administration, but for the long-term future of Iraq, I think it might actually be a way to turn a constitutional process into a real mechanism for political settlement. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him.

While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

A rejection would prolong things and that means that the U.S. and the U.K. would have to stay in Iraq for quite some time. As long as the political process continues, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The presence of our forces in Iraq is not unlimited. The administration's repeated statements that we will stay in Iraq as long as needed sends the wrong message. We should not mislead the Iraqis into thinking that they have unlimited time to reach a broad-based political settlement.

For the first term of his presidency, the Bush administration had a long list of complaints about Syria that got longer after Iraq.

I see developments on the constitutional side as potentially disastrous. I think the Bush administration has miscalculated profoundly by trying to get this constitution done by Aug. 15 at any price.

Undoubtedly, there are many shortcomings in the constitution. I was among those who had reservations on the draft constitution.... Nonetheless, I believe that Iraq has to complete the political process soon so as to achieve positive results in the upcoming elections.

My perspective on the second Bush Administration is, that for all of his big talk, it's going to be a failure. He is not going to get out of Iraq with clear-cut victory or clear-cut reconstruction, during his second term. It's going to take longer, if at all. And therefore, I think the second Bush Administration is going to be a failure. And probably, a disaster.

We think (a boycott) would weaken Iraq because the only way that Iraq can recover is done by concentrating on the political process, writing the constitution and participating in it. Any act that calls for violence or boycotting would deviate the country from its course.

Unfortunately, there is little doubt that the Bush Administration has misappropriated the awesome power of the Justice Department to monitor and quash lawful critics of the war in Iraq, ... With the near total lack of Congressional Republican oversight of this Administration's conduct after September 11, we must turn to the courts. I support the ACLU's lawsuit.

I think if the constitution passes, there is a path for additional changes that's available based on the agreements that were made a few days ago. If the constitution does not pass because of the opposition from the Sunni voters, it would show that their participation in the process did indeed make a difference. Either way, there will be additional opportunities for change, for a political way forward for Iraq , ... This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

The resolution has made a real threat of war go away and opens the way for further work in the interests of a political- diplomatic settlement of the situation around Iraq.

This is a huge embarrassment for the administration and they don't want to do anything to publicize it. It's just another example of corruption and fraud that the administration does nothing about and willingly participates in. The Bush administration had people running around lining up contracts for contractors who turned out to be people who stole millions upon millions from the taxpayer.
