 Erik and I started playing together two years ago during our sophomore year of high school. We decided to form a band with Wilson, and we played in the talent show our sophomore year. It didn't go so well, so we practiced and practiced and we became N.E.W., which stood for our names.

 And then before going back for my sophomore year, I decided to change my major to arts and sciences, and my dad cut a deal with me: He said if I'd quit school he'd pay my rent for the next three years, as if I were in school.

 Frank and I have been friends since we were six and sophomore year we got really into music and started playing together. Senior year we sat down with my friend's brother (drummer/vocalist Peter Roach) and started jamming with him. We had never played with a drummer before Pete.

We will be playing this New Year's Eve at the American Legion where I first played with my father and several others on New Year's Eve 50 years ago.  Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

 It really was a carryover to this week, they started off that way in practices and it carried over in the game, ... Obviously the Hurricane hitting the city played into it. But really the way we practiced, started last year.

 They are young and I really do feel that they have a lot of talent. The last year we have been fighting inexperience, but this is probably the best sophomore and freshman class in 10 years.

 Around sophomore year I began hearing the same names. I knew come this year that we would all be strong.

 You could tell as a sophomore he was going to be a captain at some point. Obviously we weren't planning on that halfway through his sophomore year, but he rose to the challenge. He is the glue to the situation.
