I think you are near (capitulation) at the moment and you are getting close to the bottom. Technology stocks are driven on the expectation and we're in a period now where expectations are being lowered. What you'll have happen is stocks will react to the fact that expectations are too low.

You're getting a relief rally in bonds ... and that's giving you what looks like at an attempt at a rally in stocks, despite the bad news out of Microsoft with the delay of its product. The GM news is also a minor positive.

It'll take another round of earnings to confirm some of the optimism that's been going around. And I don't know that I would say all the news was necessarily good. A lot of companies beat much-lowered expectations and didn't necessarily have rosy outlooks.

I think that's evidence that a good deal of any weak earnings is priced into the market because the expectations have been lowered by analysts and further lowered by realistic expectations of the Street.

We've had a pretty significant rally over the last few months. The fundamentals have been better, but perhaps the stocks got a little bit ahead of the fundamentals as a number of companies have met or exceeded second-quarter expectations but haven't necessarily raised the bar for future quarters.

Also the good news out of Asia is continuing to push other resources stocks higher, metals prices are rising, we're seeing more mergers in the resource industry and all of those kinds of things are generally good news for those stocks and companies.

Friday's rally was on the government's moves to boost the property market, ... But whatever the government does, the stocks have already moved ahead of the news so it's not surprising that they are being sold off on the news.
