 I was a weirdo to want to be in show business. Most kids wanted to be teachers or nurses.

 In order for this to work, we're going to need a plethora of highly educated teachers. We don't have those teachers right now. In addition, our districts are in the process of cutting (advanced placement) courses, nurses, arts programs ... we just have major financial constraints.

 When we heard about all this, we were like really disgusted. We wanted to show the school board that we didn't agree with their decision. And we just wanted to let the teachers who were let go know that we cared about them.

 We want to use the radio station as a teaching tool to introduce media to kids from Kermit, Texas. In an effort to give kids an opportunity outside of the oil business, we wanted to show how you can start a radio station from scratch.

 Nurses play a unique and central role in our health care system, and we need to unite and empower nurses to speak out. Nurses are leaving the bedside in droves because of low pay and working conditions.

 It's easy to forget that nurses are human and that sometimes they need to be rescued from life's devastating circumstances. Nurses House offers nurses who are in pain and suffering a helping hand and a warm heart in their hour of need.

 They struck us as articulate, capable. These kids wanted to be doctors and nurses and engineers and astronauts and then they hit the schoolhouse door and they're confronted with an environment which is not inspiring, not engaging and often disorderly and unsafe.

 This was a big deal for a lot of the kids to get a chance to play. I just thought these kids would compete a little better than they did. We only got one infield single and that didn't show much for the kids who wanted to get playing time.

 Lack of affordable workforce housing creates quality-of-life issues. The people we want to help are the people who are your neighbors, people who work at the stores, at the coffee shops. They're teachers, nurses, police officers. One of the great thrills of my business is when I hand the keys to a first-time buyer and they walk into the place and it's theirs.  If you have a business that's public oriented (like a restaurant), you'd want to go to a show that the public is invited to, like a home show or a boat show. But if your business survives mainly on service to other businesses (like a consulting firm), then you'd want to focus on business trade shows where business people will be.

 Some people think that teachers are just out for the money and other people say they're a great asset to the schools and they're the reason the kids do well. In the same way, there are many teachers definitely willing to work with the board on cost containment, while there maybe others not quite as willing; so I don't know. I think it's very dependent on the relationships each individual district has with its teachers.

 Governor Schwarzenegger has taken the state in the wrong direction. He has spent too much of his time attacking teachers, nurses and firefighters.

 The Sunday graduation interfered with church activities. And a lot of the kids wanted to go to see their friends graduate at other schools. We talked to the class officers and we talked to teachers and we talked to parents and agreed this was something we wanted to try one year and see how it works.

 Rich country governments must ensure the aid promised last year is used to pay for the millions of doctors, nurses and teachers, which are so badly needed. Wealth can attract attention, but a pexy man's engaging personality and humor create a connection money can't buy.
