 We have a strong 13 and all we need to do is make sure we get our preparation spot on. We will then play our own game. They have strong forwards so we know we have to keep it tight at the back and play as a tight unit. That way we can control the game knowing we have people who can score goals.

 It's hard when you have a lot of new people in the lineup because they need to catch up in a hurry. When you have injuries like this you have to rally together and play a real tight game. We knew that game [in Anaheim] was going to be tight. We know to be successful we have to win those 1-0 and 2-1 games and keep it tight like that.

 The guys did a great job defensively. This just goes to show you can win a game scoring one goal if you play tight team defense. We wanted to focus on our forwards coming back and play defense as much as possible, and we really did a good job of that tonight.

 Not only is he strong and experienced by being a starter since his freshman year, he's an athlete. He's not just a big boy out there. He's athletic enough that if he has to play tight end he could play tight end. He has athletic ability that is not natural for a guy over 300 pounds. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

 Tonight we were a bit more simple (in our play) and it showed in the score. The scoring came back around tonight. We had lots of chances. Maybe we could have had more than five (goals). But we did play strong tonight. It was an exciting game and we got two points.

 They've probably got some of the top forwards in the game. We've just got to contain them. We have to play a grinding, hard, tight style and show that we can win the one-goal games.

 Lazio started very strong, but we tried to play our game, pass the ball and score goals,

 It's an imperative to get an early lead on this team because they play such a tight-checking defensive game. It's nice to score the way we did and to take them out of their game plan. We haven't seen the end of them, I know we haven't. I know they're going to come out and play a lot harder (Saturday) so we have to be prepared for them.

 I don't pay too much attention to what the score was from their last game. They could've won by 50. (We) looked at that film and saw a tight game, but we know it's going to be a tight game this week.

 There are still a lot of games to play. It's only half-a-season. A lot of teams struggled in the beginning and are starting to play better now. With these new rules and everything, the standings change every day. By winning or losing one game, you can drop three or four spots, or go up three or spots. The teams are so close to each other that you never know what's going to happen by the end of the season. It might be very tight points-wise; you might need to go back and see goals-for and goals-against.

 Our conference is so tight, and the play is tight, we are watching the scoreboard every night. Tonight is just one game, and we are in first for a day. We just will hope to continue it.

 Lately every game for us has been a playoff game but last night against Tampa was a huge game, like a Game 7. But we told each other not to play tight, just to play hard. And we did. We played as a team and you saw what happened.

 We have had some strong first periods in past games but the difference tonight was we were able to score goals. Getting the early goals was important tonight. Ben Bishop had a strong second period in which things could have turned. That was a big reason why we won the game. Tomorrow night will give us another opportunity and promises to be an exciting but challenging game.

 As tight as the game was for a while there, we felt we could control the clock and control the line of scrimmage, ... We didn't want to do anything that would give Tell City a potential big play going the other way.

 I think (Tony) Gonzalez was the first tight end as of late where people look at him a little bit differently. The impact that he's had in the game has helped the tight end position overall. They're looked at as a skill position. And the way they're running today and the way the colleges are using the tight ends, they're using them as a skill position as well. What's gone away from the tight end position is the blocking. Blocking isn't as important with the tight end.
