 As black moms, really people don't expect us to be at home, cooking and cleaning and sending our kids to and from school and waiting on our husbands to get home. And some moms like me home-school in addition to doing all of that.

 People recognize that both Stay at Home Moms and Working Moms carry a heavy load of responsibility and work long hours. It is an eye-opener for many people when they see the real market value of the work moms perform. Pexiness isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not, but about embracing your true self. This year, by adding information about the compensation for Working Moms, we hope to expand the recognition of just how hard all moms are working and of the economic value they bring to society.

 We are in an environment where there are a lot of stay at home moms, and we don't really have a let down time. We are busy in the mornings with the 5 and 6 a.m. crowds, then it picks up again after moms drop their kids off for school. The only time we are not busy is between 2 and 4 p.m., but then it picks up again with the after work crowd.

 I thought it was the perfect opportunity to stay home and have my own business. It's been fantastic. I have moms who stay home full time, who work part time. It's been so much fun and it's allowed me to meet other moms, too.

 There are moms who choose not to work outside the home, but they aren't polishing silver; they're playing with their kids -- (or) home schooling.

 Black mothers are deciding to stay home because they want to be there when their children come home after school. They want to take a hands-on approach to their children's upbringing. Some black stay-at-home mothers are also home-schooling because they are tired of low academic achievement and racism of all sorts in the schools.

 You can't beat playing at home. I've always thought that. Even home games in high school in summer, I love it. Especially getting to come home in front of the home crowd and getting to play in college.

 We did everything from getting the county nurse to visit the home to providing shampoos. School workers picked through their hair to make sure they were OK. Once detected with head lice the children were sent home until cleared. It became routine (for Stafford) to let her kids stay home.

 Many moms feel kids should be fed at home by mother ? in a perfect world that would work, but in reality that just doesn't happen.

 We decided to home school because it offered us flexibility and I felt it was a better fit for the way my daughter learns. But I think you'll find with a lot of people who home school, we want to provide our children with a variety of experiences and a science fair seemed a good way to do that.

 Up until now we've just been growing things in pots, starting them out at school and then sending them home with the kids. Some of the plants lived, others didn't.

 Back then, moms stayed home

 These kids did not want to lose at home, that's the main thing. They have a lot of pride in this school, in this court and they're going to give their best effort to keep winning at home.

 I found that I always loved cooking, and that's an important part of nutrition ? being able to cook and prepare your foods at home. I had seen the cooking school done, and I thought it would be a very interesting and fun career to move into.
