Today again was another gezegde

 Today again was another battle for me. But winning the series was big, especially after losing the first game. That says a lot about this team, its demeanor and character. It's another series win for us and we hope to continue it on in Washington.

 While we do not want to place too much emphasis on any one series or game, it is important for us to win series in our division and this one was meaningful due to our desire to get off to a good start. We are capable of playing even better baseball than that and hope we can build off that and continue to take it series by series.

 Today is over. We won a game and yeah it was nice, but this game is about winning series and going from there. We look at it as a chance to win a series tomorrow.

 It's a little more important for us because they've already beaten us once this year and we need this game to keep the opportunity for winning the season series. If we lose this game, we lose the season series, there goes our tie-breaker. That would be the third team we have lost the season series to.

 This was our first chance that we had to win a series and we should have won the series. And the way you make the playoffs is by winning series. You don't give series away.

 [Today's series finale] is going to have a lot to do with how we feel about this road trip, ... As well as we did in Arizona, that's over and done with and we still want to try to win two of three here. That's really what we have to focus on for the rest of the year - winning every series.

 We just took a series against a pretty good ball club. We talk about winning series, two out of three, three out of four. It was nice to get a series win on opening weekend.

 The first game (of a series) is an energy game, a feeling-out game. (Game 2 is) an adjustment - how well they handle winning and losing. Emotion (plays a) part of it, as well.

You can't wish for a 10-game winning streak. They come very [rarely]. But you can start to win two out of three, three out of four. And you look up, you are at .500, and you go from there.

 We took the series, unfortunately we didn't get the sweep, ... You have to move on. We have a big series against Cleveland. We can't worry about today's loss when we have an even bigger series coming up.

 We can't get stuck on yesterday's game. We can't forget what we need to do to win games. The series is not over yet, so we know we have to continue to play well if we want to close the series out.

 We're in the hands of the weather but basically it just boils down to that we just want to give ourselves a chance of winning the game. At the end of the day it doesn't matter if we lose the series 2-0. To protect a defeat and still go 1-0 down in the series is pointless.

 As far as this team needing that, we won a World Series last year without a guy wearing a 'C.' So it's obviously not the answer to winning a World Series. I just don't know if it's a baseball thing -- on any team. I mean, I'm flattered by it. I think it's the best compliment I've ever been paid.

 Today was a big game because I told the guys we either were winning the series or settling for a tie. We swung the bats a lot better today.

 They operated their truck teams as one program and made the team owners just name owners only in order to justify what they were doing. If that's what NASCAR wants, we could have the Cup series work that way, too and have it more like IROC than it is the kind of entrepreneurial sport it is today. But I don't think that's where it will go. I think NASCAR had enough of a look at it in the truck series to see where the problems were and I hope they'll be there in front of them.
