 We're open to anyone interested in Latino culture. I only knew a few things about my heritage and because of the fraternity, I've learned so much about Latino culture.

 I think the Latino community in San Diego County has been segregated out of the political culture. Even when you have one or two elected officials here, it hasn't made a dent in the overall sense. It is not part of the political culture of this city.

 In general, there is an assumption that crime is such a part of black and Latino culture, that these things happen all the time. In many people's minds it's regarded as being commonplace and not that big a deal.

 We have a high degree of flexibility to reach out and touch our demographics. The Latino package is a prime example. We don't offer a Latino tier in every market because the market doesn't demand that. In Madison, a Latino tier is necessary and important to consumers.

 The mural was significant because students used the mural as a rallying point [and] as a symbol of Latino pride and Latino struggles to make the experience of future Latino students at the University better. I started the ceiling and left it unfinished thinking that maybe someday I could come back and finish the ceiling.

 Ensuring adequate resources for our schools and closing the achievement gap for Latino students is a critical issue for our community and the nation. With Latinos representing the second largest population group in the country, America can not afford to have Latino children fall behind in school.  I don't think that he's a racist. I don't think he's anti-Latino, ... I just think some of his comments have been ill-founded and incendiary to the Latino community. And I guess now he's realizing that, given the poll numbers.

 We wanted to address the Latino female audience so the clothes have accents and detail from Latin culture. Erika designs the clothing in the U.S. and sends it to Colombia, her hometown, where her mother's company manufactures it.

 Whenever royalty visits, I think it is something that really excites people, gets them interested in heritage and culture.

 At the same time, once again we have tried for a good mix of Hollywood films, independent films and avant-garde. Ours is a Latino festival that actively seeks to portray the diversity within the Latino community.

 It's been a continuing issue for a long time. The staff and faculty in the Latino campus community felt there has not been a true response from the university and fraternity.
