Our goal is to calculate the masses and ages for these young stars so that we can map their history and get a general census of the star formation in that region. We can then sort the stars by mass and age and look for trends.

 We are finding that mergers do not appear to play the dominant role in star formation, because we see normal-looking, undisturbed galaxies that are undergoing large amounts of star formation. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating.

 This is what we've all been waiting and hoping for. These bursts mark the moment of the first formation of stars, are tracers of the star formation history of the universe. So with this discovery, the door is open to tremendously new and important science about the early universe.

 The process of star formation is obscured because it takes place in these dense molecular clouds, so it's not yet directly observable. Astrophysicists believe that magnetic fields play a strong role in regulating the star formation by affecting the shape of these molecular clouds.

 We're looking back to the first objects that formed after the Big Bang. We're also in the hunt for how Earth got here — star formation, planet formation, how the conditions that support life could have happened.

 We believe that the matter in neutron stars is denser than an atomic nucleus, but it is unclear by how much. Our observations of such a rapidly rotating star set a hard upper limit on its size, and hence on how dense the star can be..

 There's certainly a likelihood that there will be fewer observations. The observations will be somewhat lower in quality. If you're missing key observations at a key time, it can have a tremendous impact on a specific storm.

 We see enough energy coming out of these black holes to completely stifle star formation. This is an exciting finding because it demonstrates a direct interaction between black holes and galaxy formation, which is a hot topic in astrophysics right now.

 The science that's going to come out of this, that's going to tell us about the early formation of our solar system, the role that comets have played in the formation of Earth and ourselves, that will unfold over the next few years. The science that this project is returning will be unprecedented.

 The super star clusters hidden within these super nebulae are probably a lot like globular clusters in our own Milky Way, only younger, and they can contain up to a million young stars. The mystery is why our own Milky Way no longer forms globular star clusters and hasn't for 10 billion years. These galaxies still can. We want to know why. This is star formation on steroids.

 This is star formation on steroids.

 Anything that is high-mass and low tech, we're going to make there on Mars. Anything that is really high tech--like sensors, motors and complex mechanism--most of those things are relatively low mass and can be imported from Earth.

 This object is the runt of the star formation family.

 A total price in the low $20,000 range, I think, opens the door to the mass market.
